Is Cam Newton finished as a NFL QB?

rumor is he’s going to be let go…

I think he will get a backup role somewhere else.

I’m going to do more digging on this…

I think he was finished awhile back.

Wonder if he would even want to be a backup? I can’t imagine he would, unless he blew all of his NFL money.

he gets to back up Stidham in one more game , but after that?? who knows…

Same here, he was never that good to begin with… He had one season where everything lined up and he STILL was a sub 60% completion passer… One of the most overrated players of his generation IMO

And when he is released, there will be people on this site asking for the Lions to sign him.

you know it.

It’s pretty clear watching him play that his body has taken a ton of damage over the years. He’s always been at his best when he was running the ball and making things happen with his feet, but he can’t really do that much anymore. As a pocket passer, he’s bad, real bad.

On a possibly related note, ever since he went vegan and told the entire world, he’s become worse and worse on the field. Just an observation.

He made the Pro Bowl 3x, was All Pro, the league MVP, and took his team to the SB.

While most people on here thinks he sucks, I would say he did okay in his career.

I agree, he did some great things in his career when he was healthy and young. The play in the super bowl where he just didn’t even try to get the fumble right in front of him will always linger in my mind though.

His career is over.

All things considered, he had a fine run.

It was over about 2 years ago, but a fine run none the less.

No one’s body can take that kind of punishment for long.

Cam has a huge heart. He was always doing Make A Wish Foundation stuff too.

Even then he’d still have all his Auburn money to fall back on.

As a starter? I would think so…and I’m not sure he wants to accepts a backup role. He waited till late summer to get a deal to start.

‘MAY’ not have a choice IF he wants to play in the NFL…TBD.

John Elway had only three seasons where completed 60% or better…he can’t be a hall of fame could he?

Different era. The game is so much different now than when he played. You have to compare QBs against the guys they competed against.
