Is it Riq?

Tiny account and unverified. His tackling doesn’t fit us at all but outside of that he would fill out the CB room well as we don’t have length and we don’t have world class speed and he brings both.

There really aren’t all that many options at CB so even as a rental I’d bet it’s something along the lines of the Douglas deal a few years back. So our 3rd for their 5th and Riq. Might just be a 3rd straight up though that seems steep for a rental CB that according to most Eagles fans pohasn’t played all that well this year.

I wouldn’t expect it to be nearly that much. He wasn’t good the past couple of years in Seattle, they let him walk, and didn’t Philly get him sort of cheaply? Or maybe just a little later in FA? For some reason I remember there being a cool market for him.

My hunch would be something like a 6th straight up. Maybe a 5th.

We’ll see. Supply and demand and the Howie effect leads me to believe it will be more than a 5th. Perhaps a 4 is more realistic.

I know that he went in the tank for a year or two in Seattle but I thought I remembered him playing better last year.

There was. But I though I remember him looking for an Adebo like contract and that being too rich.

Yeah, that’s possible. I just remember no one wanting him for a beat. Maybe he was asking for too much, can’t recall. Honestly I figured he was in for a big bounce back year once he signed there, but I guess nothing’s really gone right for them.

Been clamoring for him for a few weeks now… He’s on a 1 year $12 million deal that Philly pushed into future years… He only has a $1.2 million base salary. He would only cost about 70k a week for someone acquiring him via trade. Make  It  Happen  Brad

Philly fans are spoiled. I could see them having a different definition of terrible coverage. Also, the way that we have played recently is perfect for him coverage wise. Defending the run? Not so much.

Agree, Woolen makes a ton of sense for us. He has the height/speed combo we desperately need. As far as his tackling, Reed is an excellent run support tackler on one side of the field. If Branch is on the other to help Woolen, you’ve got no issues.

From what I remember, Woolen had an outstanding rookie year, but tailed off his 2nd year. His 3rd year he was getting called for a lot of handsy penalties and he seemed to develop a bit of an attitude. He was the one who called called for the taunting penalty in the NFCCG against the Rams after getting the big stop on 4th and 12. I know Seattle fans were basically happy he was leaving.

I think Woolen going back to a team with a chance to win, and with our locker room could be a massive boon for us. This is one trade I really hope happens.

I’m could get behind this trade. Adds some height and size to the room.

My opinion of him is probably being colored by a buddy of mine who’s a Seahawks fan. He thought he was terrible. “Couldn’t cover rock with paper” was how he phrased it.

So a guy who had 1 good year under Mike MacDonald coming to the Lions? What could go wrong? We play the Shock G Defense here: Doowutchyalike

Actually, Woolen’s best year came in his rookie year. That was 2022, with Pete Carroll. The Seahawks then played a ton of press man, just like we do. McDonald came in the 2024 season, so the past 2 seasons were under him.

Philly plays a lot of zone coverage, and Woolen still has 6 passes defensed in 7 games. I think he is a much better match defensively for what Detroit has than what Philly had. The big question for me is, does he fit in the Lions locker room? Has he been humbled some with things not going so well in Philly?

That’s a pretty strong CB room right there. Woolen replaces the size we lost when Carlton Davis left, and he has big game experience. I love that Rake is coming along, but having a true vet to help absorb some snaps and have that experience would be a huge boon.

The issue is why he struggled so much and why, eventually, they gave up on him: he’s a freelancer. Drove the staff crazy. Add that to his tackling aversion, and honestly I’d be surprised if we were really in for him, though his strengths DO fit the style we want to play. All of the other stuff, not so much.

I remember when he was on the struggle bus some of the advanced stats charts pretty much took the wood chipper to him. So I do think your friend was likely pretty accurate at Riq’s low points.

That’s how I felt initially but it does feel like slim picking on the CB trade front. I’d rather have Ward from the Colts but that’s another 6 or 7m in 2026 salary.

Agree, it will be interesting to see what happens. Woolen is 27, and a physical freak for a corner. 6’3-6’4 and can fly. He would be something we haven’t had before.

Corners who can truly play are pretty rare. Is Woolen’s slide a product of him getting too full of himself? Or is it a matter of NFL OC’s figuring out where he is weak and attacking that? Maybe a combo of both? There are definitely questions, which is why the cost can’t be high.

I like Ward a lot, would welcome him. He is another 6’ guy with big game experience. However, he is a major injury risk. He almost walked away from football due to the concussions. He might be a one hit away guy.

I still like Brents the best but I haven’t heard a ton about him actually being available so I’m guessing they want to resign him.
