Is Trey Flowers Contract the Worst in Detroit Pro Sports History?

Upton doesn’t even belong in conversation. Upton was paid $22M, while we paid Fielder $38M per season, both had a combined 6.9 WAR while in Detroit for those two years. I think you may need to check Fielder’s stats, he was good, but he wasn’t that good and he was terrible when you consider what we paid for him.

Worst player while in Detroit - Zimmerman, Cabrera, Fielder
Worst player over duration of contract - Fielder, Zimmerman, Cabrera

Worst contract considering what Detroit paid for production - Fielder $38M per season, Zimmermann $22M per season, Cabrera $30M per season

Worst contract when considering the entire contract - Fielder (thank you Texas), Zimmermann, Cabrera. Fielder didn’t even play 3 years where at least Zimmermann and Cabrera are serviceable.

Zimmerman was a terrible move, healthy or no. He was a solid #2 that didn’t have a big out pitch. His NL stats weren’t repeatable in the AL given his arsenal and age. Funny thing is that he was incredibly durable for his entire career in Washington.

I loved Josh Smith’s game…when he wasn’t a top 5 of all time malcontent dipshit doper. Which was pretty much 100% of the time as a Piston. Ugh.

The Griffin trade smelled of desperation and stupidity from the jump.

Van Gundy was as bad as Patricia and Quinn, because he held both jobs and was just as bad at both. Unmitigated disaster…The MCU approached him to play The Living Planet Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but he wanted to direct it too, so unlike the absentee landlord dummy Tom Gores, Kevin Feige said no.

Van Gundy set the Pistons back 7 to 10 years. They should nickname him 2nd degree manslaughter.

I can’t say enough bad things about Captain WokeCoach, except maybe about his even worse performance as the GM.

Stan VanGundy is so clueless that his great grandkids will be born looking like Alicia Silverstone with a full pornstache.

I really really hate that guy.

I’m sorry, what was the question?

I’ve said this in the past, but Flower’s contract is the perfect example of why you should never give injured players coming off surgery big money in free agency. He had shoulder surgery and then we signed him to massive deal. He wasn’t able to participate most of his first offseason and really has been injured ever since becoming a Lion. We had signed damaged goods. sigh

From the article below…

“The Lions knew of Flowers’ injury before signing him, and Flowers spent all spring working with the rehab group in practice”

Smahht guy showing his genius. He read things so well with Lang and Daniels, he knew he couldn’t be wrong on Flowers.

There’s some of that Patriot-hate growing.

Stephen Weiss on the Red Wings. Completely awful contract.
