There will be loads of combos to compare the Gibbs/Campbell/Laporta picks to, Carter and whomever you like.
But after three games?
We’re going to have to revisit this in a few years. Whatever character traits that ultimately prevented teams from drafting Carter go beyond the fatal crash. Going to have to see how those pan out over years.
I do know our guys are very talented and none of them will end up on the police blotter, FWIW.
If Carter keeps his nose clean and is a HOFer, well yeah that would mean not drafting him was probably not optimal.
They have hit on so many guys whether or not Jamo pans out is not relevant. No one hits 100%. No GM. No HC. BH and DC are doing amazing with the young guys either way.
Swift has become a different version of himself due to being replaced by the team that drafted him. He received a very, very cold splash of water that fateful draft night. Be honest with yourself about that as you imagine what might have been.
But that can’t change whether they made the right choice on draft night. We didn’t, and don’t know what the future holds. The question is, should they have taken the risk considering his level of talent and all. The Eagles were in the SB last year, they aren’t dummies I’m sure you know. They certainly felt the risk was worth it at 10. So for me, taking that risk on draft night knowing nothing of the future, it was the right choice to take Carter at 6.
Might also suggest the team was good enough to gamble on the pick knowing they had a good team if he didn’t work out. There could be many reasons. 3 games seek early but also lions picks don’t look like bums.
