As I think you can remember I was one of the few that never moved off of Carter. That being said, I think it’s become increasingly clear that he wasn’t under consideration for us. It is what it is.
I think if Carter was there at 12 they would have taken him. So I don’t think it was a case that we weren’t interested at all. I was on the Carter train myself but was told repeatedly that “him go vroom vroom and huff huff…no bueno!”
I highly doubt it. Of course we’ll never know but I think just about everybody knew the Eagles would pounce on him at 10 if he was there so I think he was off the Lions board altogether.
Whether fans like it or not. Don’t think Carter was on the Lions draft board. He looks great, but so do many of the Lions rookies. 3 games in doesn’t mean much though.
I mean, LaPorta looks like Kelce 3 games into his career if this is the final judgment.
Both players look like stars and Gibbs will show out when utilized correctly and with a healthy offensive line. The on the field performance with Carter was never the issue anyway so…tbd.
You could be right. I just gathered from their comments about how small their board actually was and how stringent their character requirements seem to be, that he was not. Just a guess of course. I have no idea whatsoever of course.
I hope you’re right bc if so that means that one really can’t overstate how high they were on Gibbs.
IIRC I did hear a few people over the summer talk about how the name Marshall Faulk was coming up in our building when discussing Gibbs
