I don’t see things that way. Not saying either are right or wrong, I just don’t see AG’s era as being db-centric. I think there was a standard of play that we emphasized and finally stocked up on, but they weren’t our identity.
Having said that, I do believe he lacked a bit of vision for the front 7.
I think Shep (maybe I ~hope~) will have a broader vision? I just think that all of his interactions through play and coaching having been with DL and DB as a function of his LB positions will lend to a better grasp of all 3 levels of the defense. Maybe “grasp” isn’t the right word, but I think he’ll have a vision that is shared by Dan that he’s able to define and communicate. Hopefully he’ll delegate as well as AG did, but not to the point that AG did where he wasn’t even speaking the same language as his DL coach and HC because he had removed himself so far from them.
After typing that out, maybe I don’t disagree after all, LOL. I don’t think our defense was db-focused, but I do think our DC was a bit checked out on DL.

Not really a huge factor… considering the contract details.

Worthy received a check as a signing bonus for over 50% of the value of his entire 4-yr deal… before he even reported for training camp.

The ability of a team to withhold game checks is VERY limited by the CBA.
A team can suspend a player without pay… but it is limited to doing so for a max of 4 consecutive games.

Ya know what…i over explained a really simple thing. Dan campbell says all the time “we dont draft turds”. Today he was on the radio and reiterated “we don’t draft turds, we draft players who LOVE ANS RESPECT FOOTBALL”.
So what part of skipping practices, being a poor teammate and taking plays off sounds like a dan campbell player???
