Jameson Williams 5th year

He’s going to crack 1000 yards in 15 games.

His 5th year option will be roughly 15 million.

I was told the Lions wouldn’t pick it up and I just can’t see that

Of course they are going to pick it up. His per game production this year compares favorably to some high end receivers.

I would be shocked it they did not pick it up. Only other option would be to resign under a new contract.

What ?!?

Who said they’re not picking it up? The only way they’re not picking it up is if they lock him up early to an extension.

I just created a Jamo thread too  Mods can probably combine them.

After his gun situation, multiple people sad they weren’t picking it up and that never made sense to me.

A one year deal makes perfect sense for him before getting invested long term

Some people are just really silly

Personally I try and get him signed long-term now, while he may be a little cheaper. His price goes up substantially coming off back-to-back 1000 yards seasons, and further removed from any off-field stuff.

Jamo is just a little lacking in the maturity department but he’s a helluva a player, a team guy, and has a wide eyed doe charm. I’m hoping he spends his entire career with us. Really pulling for that young man.

If you were Jamo would you sign a one year deal an risk getting hurt ? Lions for sure will pick up fifth year an work on extension. Whoever said that is likely anti gun person who would want his gun taken away even if he saved your friend using a gun. lions are not that stupid they may not keep him but not because of gun . That’s like not signing Rags cus he fishes an boats can be dangerous .

You was told by who?

Of course they will pick it up and they should

He’s definitely going to get picked up for the 5th year. The one nice thing about his issues this year is that it justifies not worrying about extending him until next season

To be fair, those saying that were louder than they were numerous.

My stance has always been vocal. Williams in a way is the bad boys Rodman, if you listen to everything that is said about him you realize the Lions can’t (won’t) play games with him. His own dad said he takes a while to get comfortable in new situations but when he buys in he buys in, the whole family thing. The way Randle El and Dan treat him. It is a very father son dynamic. They earned his trust, believed in him, had his back and he responded. You don’t risk that bond by cutting corners on his next deal. I would imagine Aiden’s is the next deal done and then Williams.

Beginning of year, I don’t think it was a given. Based on field production alone, it’s a no brainer. But there so much more to it now. Only the coaches and staff really know.
I bet they do pick it up.
But if they don’t, that’s more telling then a bad poker player.

15M is actually cheap for a WR these days.

Exactly, Jamo could be looking at 30mil+ if he has another strong season next year and finishes this one strong.

I love Jamo, he has such a genuine love for football, it’s infectious. With that said, tough decisions will have to be made one day. Can we really pay Goff, Sewell, St Brown, Jamo, Gibbs, and LaPorta all together? Who would you choose if you had to get rid of one?

Hopefully the front office works their magic and they are all back but it’s going to be very hard to do.
