A thing to consider is the cap is going to continue to go up. Brad is going to offer deals that are fair market value to every player he can. He isn’t going to not try and reward say a Kerby or a Branch for putting in the same work and effort in that Mack or Aiden put in. I think the debate really isn’t the 2nd contract it’s the 3rd contract. Not everyone of the guys who hits is going to get a 3rd deal. And guys are going to need to take fair market value and not price themselves out of Detroit like Jackson did. Fair market deals will be offered to all the names we think we might lose. It’s gonna be on them to decide if they want the deal.
I love how Dan makes Jamo speak to the media more. This shows his growth and development. Recently, he has been speaking more frequently than any other player
The salary cap is going up faster than than the top of the market for pretty much every position outside of quarterback and we already have ours under contract
This will benefit opposition teams greatly especially if we win a chip. Players will be looking to cash in as they should and that’s when you’ll see a lot of turnover in the roster around core guys.
He’s also producing at a high rate recently, so the media wants to talk to him more. They don’t talk much to guys not producing on the field. Where is my Tom Kennedy interviews?
Jamo’s production this year is on par with DK Metcalf. Metcalf signed a 3 year $72M contract. Jamo is 4 years younger and on the ascent. You absolutely exercise that 5th year and then work to resign him during next year.
You are right but this is where the draft is important and we just happen to have the best drafting GM (he’s a college scout of course) in the NFL.
We will have tough decisions but Hutch, Jamo, Kirby, Branch won’t be them. The decisions will come down to Decker, Rags. Gibbs we have to keep but LaPorta is a guy I could see us moving on from.
I do wonder if we will get to the point of having to pick one of Kirby or Branch
