Over the last 3 games there has been one team in the NFL averaging less than 70 yards of rushing allowed a game… The Dallas Cowboys. The moves that Jerry made have made them extremely stout against the run. I don’t expect the Lions do be able to run the ball at all. Without St Brown and LaPorta the lions are going to be in a world of hurt and Goff will have to play the game of his life.
On the other side of the ball Dak Prescott is a bonafide MVP candidate. He ranks:
1st in passing yards
1st in passing yards per game
1st in QBR
2nd in TD passes
5th in completion %
He is playing as good as any QB in the game and has an embarrassment of riches at the WR position. Lamb and Pickens are easily the best WR duo in the game. They have a damn good TE and can run the ball semi well.
Forget what you thought about Dallas earlier in the season. They are a completely different team now and are currently playing at a top 5 level in the NFL. It’s going to be really really difficult for the Lions to win this game. It’s all on Jared Goff.
I hope so. I don’t see it happening but what a win it will be if it does. Dallas is playing really well and fans that don’t watch a lot of Dallas will be shocked at how good Dak is. Jerry really has done a nice job completely re tooling his team. The offense is way too out of sync to be able to keep pace with this high powered Dallas offense that is firing on all cylinders. Would love to see the Lions run it down their throat but they won’t be able to now with the 2 monsters in the middle of their defense.
I can’t argue anything you posted except the last sentence…and I would only argue that while it will take that elite play by Goff as you stated, he is gonna need the rest of the team to do their jobs too. Can’t have people fumbling, can’t have the drops, need the OLine to also be way better. And Campbell can’t put the team in a hole with reckless decisions
Goff gets paid to win games like this. Elevating those around you and doing whatever it takes. Hutch gets paid to wreck games. These two guys are going to account for $90+ million a year average on the cap. If these guys are going to get paid like big game players they better start showing up in the big games!
The same goes for Dak. If Dak can’t will the cowboys to win it’s a failure on his part. These are 2 highly paid veteran QBs. It’s a QB matchup. Dak will be slinging the ball all over the field as he chases league MVP. Goff can’t afford to have even an average game. The season is on the line for both teams.
I think this game might actually be ugly. I think dallas moves the ball at will. we might be able to keep up for a bit but they’ll get key stops before we do.
Plus at least 4 4th down stoppages by dallas. One on the 10 yard line instead of a field goal.
Dallas DL
55.8% pressure rate the last 2 weeks vs PHI & KCC
43 pressures on 77 drop backs.
Your telling me Goff is gonna have a good day with that pass rush in his face with a banged up OLine?
Decker - Shoulder
Mahogany IR - Awoseka - Meh when healthy
Glassgow - Knee
Ratledge - Knee/ Shoulder/ Neck
Sewell - Ankle
That oline is expected to keep that pass rush at bay!
Oh and Goffs
1, 2, 6, 7th target likely OUT?
Your looking at
Gibbs/DMo
Jamo
Tesla
Kennedy/ Lovett
Dwelley/ Frisker
Yeah Dallas is really firing on all cylinders right now. The Lions are probably going to get smashed. Too bad this matchup couldn’t have happened earlier in the season.
If the Lions are even remotely competitive this Thursday, it will be a shock. They are garbage on the OLine and are going to get Goff killed this week.
Dallas will test our pass defense and with a terrible OL Goff is going to have that confused (looking up at the big screen) look. The Lions have no confidence.
But Dan Campbell could help by quitting w the stupid 4th down shit on his own side of the 50. Especially if all he is gonna do is go shotgun and run Gibbs up the gut into a stone wall. That shit demoralizes a team and hurts our chances of winning.
We need to win a few to get our swagger back, but dang, it’s gonna take an amazing effort to do that with the five games left this year
So probably just gotta reload and be better next year
This seems really odd that the Lions would open as 6.5 point favorites in this game. The line was down to 3 and I would expect near even money by game time. To me that means a lot of money is going on the Cowboys, so in theory all the calls should be going our way. @Jman would know better than I do.
