It is a joke but some can’t see the obvious and just want to b*tch….

I’m going to throw Goff some positivity. Usually I’m criticizing.

This is all just my opinion. What makes Goff a good QB is that he’s a good Detroit Lions QB. DC and co deserve a lot of credit for helping Jared Goff develop into the best QB he can be. He was a part of this culture build. And now he’s stitched into it. He has a strong relationship with the coaches and teammates and thats what makes him good. I don’t think ARSB is as good as he is without Goff.

I have said I don’t blame the OL like other people do, but that doesn’t mean they dont need to improve. Regardless of how much the defense needs help, they need that OL to be elite again especially if Jared Goff is your QB and you have a generational superstar in Gibbs.

I mean everyone and their mother knows that it starts with the OL for any team. The Lions and other teams like Eagles and Dallas proved this.

On defense they need to focus on stopping that run again.

Guys we are all getting old , be realistic , qb is the key pos

Dans strength is play calling from Starbucks caffeine

The best ability is availability. Goff is one of the most consistently available qbs in the league. The dude plays thru almost anything

But your eyes also saw him running for his life or the pocket utterly collapsing in seconds from the inside.
Lotta blame go to around before you get to Goff imho

I am in the wrong thread ,title confused me , this is Goff sympathy thread

#1, Goff doesn’t need sympathy, he is and has been the most consitent player on this team, never misses agame, never hurt, never injured, team player, responsible, on time, get off his back.

Should have been more clear. Rarely if ever does he line up for a play, see the Dline stacked and audibles to a chunk pass play to take advantage of said stacked LOS. I do see what you see as well. Kill Kill Kill which 98% of the time simply means we are going to shock your defense with another run up the A gap for no yards. He does audible. He’s no Peyton Manning when he does. He’s just making sure he doesn’t get hit and again giving up on a play before it can happen. IMHO of course.

You guys are right. I’ll fix it for you. Jared Goff is perfection in a QB. Has zero faults and we all should worship his farts. Better? Because it seems like this is the type of zealotry you all require. SMH.

Rarely if ever? I think most plays he audibles and aren’t we top five in ‘chunk’ explosive plays

Reasonable criticism shouldn’t consist of just making shit up

why would someone let the truth get in the way of lack of understanding?

I think this is 100% “making shit up.”

Really? Because the coaching staff already said Goff goes to the line with up to five plays he can choose from. When we see him tapping his helmet he’s changing a play. When he yells ‘kill kill’ he’s changing a play. When he’s waving his arms, he’s calling for a shift, When he’s tapping on a finger he’s choosing and changing a play…

This happens on most plays. You think I’m making this up? Do you even watch the games?

All that is fair stuff and I do appreciate the clip. It was cool. I understand this. Shifts, protections, motions etc. Jared is the epitome of cerebral. He still doesn’t let plays develop the way he “could” at times. He “rushes” to the first read. That creates YAC. It reduces risk. It also leaves bigger plays on the table. That criticism IS valid. No cherry picked stats are going to change what my eyes (experienced ones) see happen. I am not interested in actively replacing Goff. He’s good enough to win. There are also areas he can get better to improve our chances for hardware.

Do you have evidence he ‘rushes his first read’? And can you quantify how that correlates to the route trees and pocket time?

A constructive criticism to that effect should probably include advanced stats like target distribution relative to attempts, down and distance and other quarterbacks with a minimum number of snaps…

Regarding YAC - I don’t see this as an argument against QB efficiency. To me that means the QB is reading the defense, making accurate throws and throwing guys open…

I would like to see our offense open up with more downfield throws but we also don’t have a CJ or an Evans. Jamo is more effective running towards passes than under them and hasn’t shown a great ability to high point and out position players on a long ball. Raymond is a gadget guy and Amon is an elite slot weapon

Tesslaa might be that guy but he’s also a rookie. If we can find an elite deep route WR and improve the IOL I’d expect Air Yards per attempt to go up. and if it doesn’t, then it’s time to ask why not

What I find funny….

There can be a QB who has…

Lower rating

Less yards

Less TDs

Lower completion percentage

Less playoff success

Faces less pressure

Has more turnovers

Has a better defense…

and yet we’d still have fans/posters obsessed with the “eyeball” test-

What is interesting would be seeing Allen bullet bounced in week 1 of the playoffs Trevor “was called a bust” Lawrence and the out nowhere Jags.

It’s pretty clear “teams” can win with Darnold, Nix, Lawrence, Purdy etc…. I bet it will also be clear teams won’t win BECAUSE of the QB most weeks…. I bet that if the Rams allow 23 points or less next week… they win… if they allow 28 plus? They lose….

I will admit that Allen wins more games for his team than anyone else, but it’s not like there are more out there and readily available.

Hold a team below 325 yards… allow under 21 points…. Have a top 15 OL, a top 10 QB, and some decent playmakers and you should be in it.

Or fans keep fawning over Herbert’s arm, Caleb’s escapability …. Except we can’t piece them together. You get the whole QB and all their state, injuries, leadership etc.

Injuries check

Shoddy OL check

Fired OC check

Zero TEs on roster check

Terrible D check

Awful play calling and situational coaching check

  • very few posters would argue any of the above facts to be mostly, if not completely accurate….

Yet we still question a QB who was top 2-3 in every metric, that carried us to a top 5 offense and a winning record

  • we saw Stafford here with a D
  • We Saw him with some elite weapons

We saw Mahomes playing in, and winning SBs with top 3 defenses and average offense?

We saw Allen with a top 2 defense and some top WRs 3 times…no ring

Restructure the deals… get rode of mistakes, don’t sign out of loyalty… winning creates loyalty
