Yes, itās so baffling to the critics that he seems to worm his way into the top area of QB stats despite not being any good at anything.
When Iāve asked some die-hards about it they usually resort to saying that heās been extremely lucky in his career to have great teams and great offensive coordinators.
Teams that would be so much better off and winning more games with some other QB.
Iām thinking that if theyāre right the Lions could be 22-4 this year instead of 11-4 if they only had a decent QB.
20+ is not the ādeep ballā. Those would be 30, 40, 50+.
Iām not complaining, but I promise you that our deep game is not where they want it to be. I fully expect them to work on that over the next couple of weeks. āExplosivesā are hugely important to keeping a defense in check. Campbell talked about this even while being an assistant in NO.
20+ is good, but we need more deep shots.
20 plus is what the NFL considers āexplosiveā for a pass. College too
I think we will see more deeper shots when we have a WR who Goff trusts to be where heās supposed to be. Jamo is still a work in progress
Maybe not per you, but it is for others in the statistic field.
Leads the league with 1st downs. Thats a win
OK, so technically 20+ is ādeepā, but theyāve made comments even the last couple of weeks that tell you there are shots downfield that they wan to take.
I just donāt think the 20+ stat proves anything, either for Goff or something the team is content with.
Last week the game plan was to exploit short passes over their blitz and in front of the drop backs. Itās why we owned TOP and it was successful. We scored the second most points on the Vikings this year and nearly doubled their average points allowed
The week before we heaved it deep to Jamo on the twice on the first couple drives. One was a good throw but scuttled by a great diving pass deflection. The other Jamo lost the ball in the airā¦
I think we will see more 30 + shots when it fits into the game plan, Jamo continues to improve tracking the ball and Goff starts to trust him more
For sure. Youāre obviously not going to cue up a bunch of deep balls when Rags is out either.
Goff has completed a 57 air-yard throw, which is good for 9th (not that that matters), so you know he can launch it. There are some plays out there that the team wants. 20+ might look good in a Tweet, but theyāre striving for more.

Good stuff!
Would like to give a shout-out to this awesome run game as well! OL play overall has been stellar!!!
So if we lock up Goff in the offseason what is Hookerās trade value? There are several teams that need a value at QB because they swung and missed on pricey FA QBs like the Raiders and Denver. Also these teams have won too many games to be able to draft top talent QBs.
why would we trade our developmental backup so soon? Injuries happen. If we are in a playoff race next year and Goff gets hurt I donāt want to be rolling with Boyle.

We donāt need to have a terrible backup like Boyle because we trade Hooker. If Hooker is sought out as a starter and we could get a 2nd rd + pick for him or more, we would be crazy not to trade him.
Iād love to see hooker in this offense before we decide to sign anyone long term for over 40mil/year
Nobody is giving a second round pick for Hooker. Not unless Goff gets hurt for several games and Hooker lights things up
Actually if the Minny game ends up worthless it might be good to get Hooker a game. Could up his value if he plays well; get him some reps in case something happens to Goff and he has to move to QB2.
He IS a game manager⦠A good one⦠Having the best rushing team in the NFL helps a lot (the two teams above Detroit have the 2 best running QBs in the game).
Always puzzled by the medias term of āgame managerā as with calling someone an apologist is referring to a QB as a game manager a little derogatory?
Yet at the end of the day, arenāt virtually all drop back QBs essentially game managers?
Itās what great QBs do, Montana, both Mannings even Brady, its winning football
