What do you guys think? Anyone know his background?
I try to like him. Key word is try. I don’t know what it is though.

Last year the Tigers ranked 28th in baseball with their broadcast team. This year they are 11th, and it’s becsuse of Benetti. So people do like him.
I personally like him, but as @frm710 points out, he does get carried away at times, and seems to forget there is a baseball game going on.

He seems like an everyday nerd who got a big break. He really looked out of place at that Chicago deli.

That was one of my favorite movies when I was a Kid…its a classic.
Sometimes I feel like there’s a big hole in my life when we had two toddlers and I worked days and my wife worked evenings. Most of the 80’s. Music was from the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, etc. TV was the smurfs, etc.

I actually like Binetti. His voice actually sounds like Mario Impemba’s voice to me…. but he isn’t as sharp or witty as Impemba was.

I really like Dan Dickerson and wish they would just have him do a simulcast. Benetti is OK, but this seems more like a job to him rather than being emotionally invested in the Tigers success like Dickerson is. Maybe that grows with time, but I just don’t get the same level of excitement w/ Jason as I do with Dan. That’s what she said.

He drives me nuts goes on humorous tangents too often for my taste and , oh yea that was a strike, .
Gibson early in the season would remind, you know there’s a game on? He knows baseball and can be very good but reminds of that sheep that keeps straying and the border collie needs to push him back to stay focused on the right path.
Hey, I’m the old stay off my lawn guy when it comes to some of these announcers.

Mario was the best, hands down.
He makes the Tigers watchable. He’s hilarious.

Tigers are watchable no matter the announcers, even moreso when he isn’t on the broadcast, Dickerson today was/is far superior.

He was excellent but the best for me…
Goes back to the days of Kell/Kaline/Harwell/Carey all did TV back to the days of OnTV and PASS
Josh Lewin and Gibson were also great.

Al and George were a great great easy listen. For 2 HOFers, they never were Back in My Day blah blah kind of guys. Top notch due.
