I thought this guy would be special. He has been inconsistent tho. What’s your thoughts?
I’ve been underwhelmed as well and I absolutely loved the guy coming out.
If he had Ra heart and drive, I think he would be different.
He’s nowhere near as strong as St. His quickness is his calling card.
He is good.
I comped him as Robert Woods. Still seems about right.
He is good. Not special. Not a 1st rounder.
Still undefeated in underwear olympics.
He’s just the next in a long list of underwhelming Ohio State players at the next level. If he would’ve went to a real program like Michigan maybe he would’ve developed some toughness.
(Am I doing this right?)
The problem is Seattle is pretty loaded and Lockett and Metcalf are going to get theirs and Fant needs to be fed. Gino Smith can also be maddeningly inconsistent. Plus their offensive line is not that good. But I do like considering that he sucks for no reason than he went to OSU. ■■■■ him. But as @HiFidelity said, he shouldn’t have been a first rounder.
Significantly quicker than Woods but not as tough.
We should keep in mind that JSN is still only 22, hasn’t yet made it to year 3 when many WRs take a leap and has yet to see anything approximating a featured role. He still may have significant upside.
I think Seattle took him last year as more of a future pick. Lockett is a terrific receiver, but he’s also 32. When he declines Seattle will direct more of his targets to JSN.
This ^ Surprised they resigned Lockett this past year I thought they were gonna move on from him.
It’s like coming in and having Calvin and Tate ahead of you on the depth chart.
He’s a third wheel in that offense.
A couple of things that I have seen.
He does not seem to have strong hands. Maybe that is toughness maybe that is focus but not enough contested catches IMO. And I am not talking jump balls but just the type of stuff you see the elite guys do as a matter of everyday action (ARSB is obviously a great example but there are many just like him).
He runs great routes and is smart but he just does not seem to be able to make it happen when the ball is in the air. And I also think he has missed quite a bit of time with injuries (maybe I am mis-remembering).
Not just JSN. Most WR selected in the 1st round shouldn’t be
Not just because of the high bust/mediocrity rate, but because WR can be found all through the draft. JSN may very well turn out to be the best of last year’s 1st round WR (I’ll go with Addison for now) while his career still pales when compared to Jayden Reed or Puca Nacua, or others like Wicks or Dell or Rice
Not an OSU thing either. MHJ clearly a worthy 1st rounder. Nabers and Odunze also clear 1st rounder from this year’s class. But the '24 class very deep. The '23 class not so much and a lot of guys overdrafted, JSN not the least of them
Keep in mind that the scouting process for him was complicated by mostly missing his last season. So you were going back to his sophomore year and projecting off of that. And his 2021 season was ridiculous.
Sure. Just like Jamo, another guy who was overdrafted.
I would much rather have Jamo. If you had that same draft again today and everyone knew the outcome, Jamison Williams would still be a first round pick. You can’t teach the kind of speed Jamo has.
If Jamo never tells his ACL he may have gone top 5.
I think it’s a Seattle thing… I even think DK underperforms based on his physical traits. JSN was a big play guy at OSU, and he gets a ton of targets in Seattle, but averages less than 10ypc.
