I think he’s going to be a really tough pull unless he wins it all.
He’s getting close to $10m already, his kids are in elementary school and he is literally the King of this city if not state. And as long as Phil is alive and committed to his current level of spending he has a massive competitive advantage that will be hard to replicate.
Rodgers is a goner next year…that’s why I brought AG up. He spent a decade playing in new york. It’s a complete rebuild after disaster. To me that sounds very familiar to Dan Campbell taking over in Detroit 3.5 years ago.
This presumes good ownership, which the Jets have yet to show. However it looks like baby brother’s gonna be taking over again, and he seems less inclined toward splash moves at least. And he certainly seems like less of a meddler than Woody.
Also they may want to go with an offensive coach since Saleh was defensive. Most these places seem to go with the opposite of what didn’t work last time, even if it’s inherently foolish and unrelated.
I get it’s. As I’ve said before he’s college Dan Campbell so I’m sure he’ll be way up on the list. But I think Oregon would pay him virtually whatever to keep him. There has been a good deal of reporting that Uncle Phil is laser focused on getting a Natty before he dies and they are so close. I don’t think he’s blink if he needed to pay Dan another 6-7m annually out of pocket for the next five-ten years.
As for the pro guys, here’s my hot take:
The Lions will have the most hotly contested HC candidate next offseason and it’s not Ben Johnson.
He did, but they were barely there when big bro came back and started meddling. Were they bad hires, or were the people he hired acting at the command of Woody?
I’m 100% sure Rodgers was a Woody move, Douglas had no choice but to go along with it. And while he wasn’t a great drafter, he was about as average as everyone not named Brad. Sauce, Breece, AVT, Garrett Wilson, Tippmann were good picks, Pinnock and Bryce Hall have gone on to be good players elsewhere.
Saleh looked really good at times too, they could just never get the offense untracked. But was it his fault? He was saddled with Zach Wilson and half-a-year of Rodgers. Felt like he was trying to keep a shit show afloat.
