I don’t think it’s silly. Had Howard hit him with a closed fist he would have been fired before he made it to the plane to fly back home. He may still be fired. I have no idea if Howard has had talks in the past with Manuel. This could be strike one or strike eight with Manuel. I have no idea. We’ll find out soon enough.
It’s too bad that Chris Weber wasn’t coaching Wisconsin. They wouldn’t have had a TO to use.

Howard did it twice this year with his team up big with less then a minute left.
The thing is you don’t get suspended for stopping a guy. You can call that a bad decision but its definitely not a suspension. I wouldn’t even suspend Howard for the finger wag although that is definitely a warning that he’s getting a 1 game the next time it happens. The bitch slap should get you fired. Players throwing punches get you suspended, I’d be fine with revoking their scholarships. Wisconsin coaches get nothing unless you can find something verbal said that was awful and there would have to be proof of it.

Howard should be fired. Watching the video though Gard was being the initial instigator. Howard just wanted to shake and go. Gard was looking like little Schwartz chasing down Harbaugh

I couldn’t care less what they said. It’s the physical actions that resulted in escalation that should get guys suspended. Clearly some more at fault than others with Howard clearly the most at fault.
I’ll give Gard credit he instantly knew he screwed up and once separated he walked away. His assistant? Not so smart. He walks over and pushes the guy who broke it up.
That’s just it. Nothing the Wisconsin guy did physically warrants a suspension. Just because Howard went and got himself fired doesn’t mean I have to hand a suspension to Wisconsin. I could advise him not to do that in the future. Because Howard is right, you have no right to touch him.

A finger wag is taunting. Also meant to be intimidating and that kind of stuff is used to start fights. They hope you react so they can justify punching you in the face. Dude didn’t take the bait.

His assistant? There’s no excuse for him to start pushing players, one of whom broke up Howard and Gard, after Gard had already walked away. That should result in a suspension.

I was a freshman at the UM the same year as the Fab 5. I used to joke with my buddies that it was the Fab 6. But I stopped telling that one. Don’t want to be associated with that group.
Then you can get creative like Jason Kidd and invent new ways to call timeouts by spilling soda all over the court.
