Kansas City Outplayed Us

Me too on the offense being better.

We did not play our best and the Chiefs played well. We were outplayed in the trenches. My biggest concern is the Packers and the Chiefs play a similar style of defense. Stack the line and play 2 deep. We struggle against the style of defense. Our coaches need to do a better job of scheming ways to defeat it. Until they do then we will continue to see it and struggle to score 17 points.

Here is a tidbit I found in an article

" In three games against the Packers, Ravens (with Lamar Jackson) and Chiefs, the Lions have allowed 29 points per game and have one takeaway (1-2 record in those games)."

Our defense has beat up 3 bad offensive teams in Bears, Browns, Bengals

Context is important, no? Especially last night IMO.

Context is what way? That we were missing our starting CB’s?
Packers and Chiefs are 8th and 9th offense rankings
Ravens are 13th
Tampa’s offense will test us again as well as the Cowboys. We should have most of the guys back by time we play the Cowboys so let’s wait and see.
I didn’t like how the defense played last night, especially the LB’s and we still have an issue with 3rd and long, giving up 1st downs in those situations and getting off the field.

But I am optimistic that the defense gets stronger as the season goes on

That our starting safeties were barely healthy enough to play and that we had one of our top 6 CBs. Seems like a severe impediment, no?

I think going in we all knew our defense was going to have problems.

What stood out to me is that Leo Chenel destroyed our run game and Tranquill blew up our screen game. The one play Tranquill just trucked Brock Wright and hit Gibbs for a 4 yard loss. The play was a swing to Gibbs with 3 blockers in front against 2 defenders. This was on a 2nd down and 6. We then threw a screen to Jamo on the other side for no gain. 3 and out. We need a 2nd TE that can block. They outplayed us.

It is but what about the other 2 games? Healthy CB’s and Safeties.

So Green Bay I thought we were quite good defensively in the second half. I thought the Jack on kraft one on one strategy was an awful one and cost us in the first half but we adjusted. We also had back to back potential game changing defensive plays brought back due to penalty.

As for Baltimore we held IMO the best offense in the league when Lamar plays to 23 points in the first 59:30 of the game which is actually really quite good. Not to mention perfect execution of the only Lamar pass rush plan that actually works. Defense was really quite good that game. IMO you are misremembering that one.

Kansas City Outplayed the Lions.

The Lions will be outplayed 3 or 4 more times this year.

It happens.

This was a loss from a mile away. Road game against desperate KC with not a single person on the injury report, and Lions with Safeties barely able to walk, one starting caliber CB and a backup LT.

I keep saying that the Lions have to win at least 7 of 8 home games and 4 of 9 road games for 11-12 wins to take division.

They are 2-0 at home and 2-2 on the road.

I think the Lions are more than capable of winning all of their home games and 2 more road games to finish 12-5.

I know we Lions fans are now used to winning, but the world doesn’t end with every loss.

If you told me before the season we would be 4-2 after playing 4 of 6 on the road. I would take that all day. Now the injuries in the secondary is concerning though

easy once you have the refs in your pocket.

So I just heard a stat on the Lions Talk Live podcast that said since 2000 there have been 16 NFL games in which one team did not garner a single penalty. Since 2018, the Kansas City Chiefs have four of them. He said no other team has more than one. I tried to verify the claim, but couldn’t. If true that is pretty damning evidence in my opinion. Especially when you can watch the game and see some blatant holds, taunts, and a brutal block in the back, that were not called.

The fact that the Packers are on there a couple of times leads me to believe we are on the right path of, referee screw job 2025. :joy:

Im ok with this. We just need to be healthy.

The thing that surprises me the most are that 5 of those teams lost.

Hopefully the refs lost money those days.
