Pickett wasn’t handling the signing of Russell Wilson very well. He had to go because it’s very apparent he will never be a successful franchise QB. He doesn’t have the mental makeup. It’s a good move on the Steelers part.
I’ll give Fields credit for one thing, so far he’s handling his situation (from what I’ve seen anyway) very well. Always watch how someone acts during adversity. It will tell you a lot. Pickett’s response spoke volumes.

Plays for a team full of players that absolutely hate him and will promptly be riding the bench come September. I wouldn’t say he is in any more of an enviable position than the rest of them.
So…. Pickett lost his job to Mason Rudolph…
and then requests a trade because the Steelers signed an aging Russ to a 1-yr deal……
and is more content backing up a young QB that just signed a mega contract and isn’t going anywhere in the near future???

He threw for 28 TD’s, only 8 Int’s, and over 3000 yards.
That’s more TD passes than the NFL MVP, fewer Int’s than Mahomes.
Russ is not what he used to be but not done.
If he is as done as it gets then there are a bunch of QB’s in the league that are Done, Done.
As Holmes said when many wanted him to take a QB instead of Goff:
It’s a lot easier to get worse at QB than better.
I’m glad he stayed with Goff!
Imagine the state of this program had we picked Malik Willis at 2OA
