Seriously though, never wish injury ( only a little hurtin’) on our opponent but Kerby has now eradicated Hockenson and Higbee’s knees in the span of a month on very similar “blind side” knee jobs…
Should it be outlawed/penalized? and how do you police such a grey area play?
Let them hit them in the upper body. No head shots, concussions are bad mkay, but body rock them. Now that it’s a defenseless receiver hit, they can’t do that. But I guarantee every receiver would rather take that hit than a knee shot.
The QB simply shouldn’t throw that ball against a zone coverage where multiple defenders are waiting to kill the guy. They can’t hit them high anymore, so they hit them low.
The only time a QB should throw that ball is if he sees man coverage with a trailing defender. He should never throw it into a zone defense where there’s a defense waiting to hit the WR anywhere but up high.
TL/DR - It’s on the QB to ensure this doesn’t happen as much as it’s on the defense to ensure they don’t hit a defenseless WR up high.
That’s not on Kerby, it’s on Stafford. Hock wasn’t on Kerby, it was on Mullens. Qb’s need to stop putting their receivers in danger on these crossing routes. There are no free plays.
I feel the same about pass interference. Too many teams get bailed out. There should be some onus on the team to get the WR open instead of heaving the ball up for grabs and blatantly trying to get a favorable whistle.
That’s what gets missed when people say Joseph should have hit them higher. If he blows Higbee up and prevents him from making the catch, he could get flagged for it.
I didn’t like how Joseph got in Stafford’s face after this play, but I agree with Brady that it’s on the players to protect themselves and that kind of pass can be dangerous.
Ive been hearing its a cheap shot from other fans. Its in rule book. Ive already mentioned this once, but smaller guys always go low on that play. He goes up higher its probably a flag.
Yah, Rams fans up in arms about the Lions’ “dirty hits.”
Not all, of course. Some will be rooting for the Lions - because of their hard-luck story, because some still respect Goff, whatevs. But some definitely calling for “revenge” when the teams meet again next season.
And I was a Kerby fan in college and have the receipts to show it… this was how he often tackled in college and he forced quite a few fumbles. He forced a fumble last year torpedoing that way. I think it was GB at home.
