Kick the tires on Jalen Ramsey

That would be a no brainer. I just don’t see the Chiefs doing that. Especially when you’re damn near playing kingmaker for a competitor.

Can Ramsey really replace a Jedi though?

I thought we were playing a Harry Potter villain at CB.

I could certainly see that.

3 years, 39mil with 1 void year attached. Give him 12mil signing bonus spread out over 4 years and a 4mil base salary guaranteed year 1.

Maybe he’s a dark jedi that uses a wand instead of lightsaber? Wow we’re breaking some serious infringement laws here lol

Interestingly, Jalen got a $55M/3yr extension on the contract from the Dolphins, but they Dolphins only paid $10M in cash to him for 2023, so that are $8.3M short on the contract. Right now Ramsey is due $45M over the last two years of his contract, including $25.5M fully guaranteed due this year and $19.5M due in 2025.

If I were to trade for Ramsey, Miami would have to pony up significant cash on his 2024 salary. If they paid $9M of his 2024 salary, I’d be willing to give them a 3rd rounder (same as they gave to LA Rams).

I’ll be pretty surprised if Fuller only gets 12m guaranteed.

With Ramsey I think ultimately @Blizer is right and the Dolphins go all in on 2024 which likely works out poorly for them.

I wouldn’t give up more than a 6th for that.

I don’t disagree, but remember, this is a two-way street it isn’t just the Detroit side. They’re also calling the Chiefs and saying, “Hey man we got you. We’re going to let you off the hook and we’ll pay the man his money” which frees up the Chiefs to back up the brinks to Chris Jones’ house. It’s not a favor, but it’s a favor. “By the way guys, on top of that here’s our #61”.

I think that is one scenario where I could see him dealt. If Miami eats 9mil of his salary then I’d start to think about it.

12mil signing bonus, not guaranteed. You can guarantee 4mil base for 1st year and another 6mil if his salary the following year for 22mil total guarantee.

I’d do that. Does 16.5m savings in '24 plus our third entice the Dolphins though?

Ramsey does exhaust me sometimes but I think we need some of that A-hole swag in that room.

No time for nice. Go get that trophy.

But he got a 12.5m signing bonus in 2020. Sure he’s older but he’s significantly more accomplished and further away from injuries. And the cap is up 40% since he last signed.

Guarantees are what matters, whether that comes in the form of a signing bonus, guaranteed salary, or guaranteed roster bonus. 23.5mil is what Fuller got over 4 years. Getting 22mil over 3 is technically a better average.

I could be way off, just how I’m reading his market.

I’m still on the Snead train here. I understand with Ramsey, but the Dolphins don’t have the same luxury as KC because the Dolphins already set the bar with what they gave up so they would still want more than the Chiefs would I believe. Plus you’re still talking Dolphins have to pay some vs. KC just trading him outright.

I could be jumbled in the head right now I just think it makes more sense for the Chiefs. Let Brad Holmes pay the outright money and not have to give up anywhere near what MIA did.

I may be off as well. But I see both Snead and Johnson being off the market over 20m and the Fuller market heating up and him getting some really nice offers.

But I don’t see it as Snead being off the market, I guess that’s where we disagree here.

I think he practically is. IMO you are drastically undestimating what KC is fishing for.

It’s a very fair point. I could be. But I still think a trade back and earlier second round pick would get him if he agreed to the money. I suppose we may have to actually agree to disagree here. I think you and I both would love him but have different views on what it would take.

Plus you’re stubborn, so there’s that. :joy:
