Could be all show but Steves seat is getting hot
His seat deserves to be hot. I love the guy, but as a GM…enough is enough.
Should have been on the hot seat two-three years ago.
Strange move-a captain calling out management to the media.
Can’t say I agree with that, as a captain (from a leadership perspective) I’d say that conversation should be had behind closed doors
I blame larkin and Yzerman. One it is larkins team, he played awful after the whatever that bs cup thing was. Yzerman hasn’t signed anyone worth nothing. Kane was his best signing.
Maybe its a sign Larkin wants out as well. Good maybe we can get better forward that cost less and go really hard after Marner.
Illitch needs to open up his pocket book. It’s not all on Stevie.
He has opened.
Its 90% on steve.
Compher, Copp, Walman, Petry.
The were better options for the money they paid. and the whole walman thing is firable in any organization.
That has nothing to do with Chris and everything to do with steve
Yeah it’s a salary cap league, and from what I read today, we will be on the wrong side of the cap heading into next year.
You can only spend so much and it looks like we have already spent the limit on sucky players.
I thought I read with the increase we’d have nearly 15 mil, but obviously I could be wrong.
I definitely could be wrong. I only remember a quarter of what I read at the moment.
If what you are saying is true I will feel a little better.
Yeah we will be pretty good with available cap space next year
I just looked it up and didn’t get the clearest of answers, but I counted it as 75 mil that we owe next yr and the cap is 99ish. I’m by no means a cap guy though so we could be negative 20 bols lol
Is Larkin yelling to for Steve to get a real #1C? That way Larkin can play the position he has the talent for - 2C?
Sounds like he is yelling for more talent since Larkin looked the part in the 4 nations tournament with TALENT around him. Stevie Y better player than executive. Should have been fired last year.
The difference between Dylan Larkin and Nick Suzuki is striking. Suzuki reportedly asked Montréal’s GM not to mess with the roster at the deadline, emphasizing team chemistry. Meanwhile, Larkin seemed discouraged not to see changes, implying someone should’ve been shipped out for a “spark.” But to land a real difference maker, it would’ve meant trading active players. Who exactly did they expect to go, Kasper who drove line play every game unlike Larkin after 4Nations?
Also, if morale dipped post deadline, was Larkin, as captain, doing anything to reset the tone and rally the team? From his interviews, it’s hard to picture. And looking at March performances over the last few years, including Larkin’s own struggles after 4 Nations, maybe the leadership issue runs deeper. Larkin’s a good player, but as captain, is he more part of the problem than we’ve admitted?
I watched larkin come into the organization as a little baby. Now he its 9 years and no playoffs. We need a bobby probert on the team. Larkin is the captain. We need a bobby probert to get this team going? Go get him. Id imagine with all the modern players a bobby probert would he cheap to acquire. However i would bet my last dollar that a new bobby probert in Detroit would out sell a dylan larkin jersey. 9 years…at least we get our money’s worth instead on 9 years of what? Not only that. Larkin was supposed to be some top nhl player. Top nhl player cant get to the post season for 9 years? Joke. The name larkin does not sell anymore. Overrated. Passive. 9 years? That captain c on your chest is gone buddy. He aint no sydney crosby. Maybe sydney sweeney?Edit: steven Yzerman seat is scorching. He wants everyone to he Russian 5. Aint happening stevie. We have a salary cap . Cant buy a cup. Need to he tough. Figure it out
The Wings needed the rebuild after Mr. I’s passing. Both the Tigers and the Wings decimated their systems to try to bring Mr. I one more championship. I actually supported those efforts and respect them.
I love Steve Y. But it is time to let the kids play and live or die with the results. The seat is hot. It should be. Larkin calling out Y is kinda funny actually. Might be the first time I have seen leadership out of Larkin.
We have polar opposite definitions of leadership. Fan’s calling out Yzerman, I 100% get that. The captain though, that’s a big no no
