Let’s talk about the Packers and the playoff picture in general

Similar to San Fran last year. They wrapped it up second to last week. Hoping we can do the same this week. Hate cheering for GB, but I’ll do it this week only.

lol ….ok

Ask yourself why you’re ignoring the healthy point in every post. And then my clarification to you over an over again.

I honestly do not know how it can be any clearer but I digress.

:man_facepalming:

I have read this a few times this week on the board so I have an honest question…

Can someone tell me the last time a team rested starters for 2 weeks because “they had nothing to play for.”

I don’t mean letting injured guys rest but intentionally resting healthy starters for more than one game.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it in the NFL and frankly think all the talk of GB doing so is laughable. @Nate nailed it. You don’t want your team getting rusty heading into playoffs. You want a well oiled machine that’s playing best ball of year.

It’s not that big of a deal, Air. The important thing is that the Packers beat the Vikes. I think they will have most all of their roster available and will defeat Minnesota.

Right. In 2021 GB played their starters for a half against us for precisely that reason. I think Dan might do the same thing tbh.

FYI - I stand by my initial point. Which I will clarify once again … even though I’ve never wavered in it. Or moved the goal post.

The pack will try to win the game but not at the expense of getting healthy. Players who need to get healthy and would otherwise play will rest or be on a limited snap count. GB will likely put getting healthy as the higher priority.

Point being. Several players practiced this week who have had nagging injuries and have played week after week. Some of those players will rest this week or get limited playing time.

Example #1 Is Alexander - He practiced this week but is sitting the game out.

Example #2 is Watson. He is another who I think they will limit playing time or sit.

The Lions did this earlier this year with Decker. Dan stated he could have played but they felt getting him healthy was more important. Teams in this situation do this every single year.

Winning is a priority but getting healthy for the playoffs is priority one.

Was listening to The Athletic (I think?) podcast on the Vikings-Packers match-up, and they seemed to think everything pointed in the Packers direction. Specifically, Love is a top 5 QB against zone, and plays poorly against man (27th—and Vikings struggle playing man). He’s also 77% accurate in the last 10 games or so.

Anyway, uh, go Pack?

Valid point. If it was a must win game for the Pack…they’d be playing.

I get your point but the two examples you have given are guys who have missed multiple games this season and this is kind of how it goes with them. So I don’t know that those two are the best examples.

Teams usually don’t rest a bunch of healthy starters. They can’t really with the way active rosters are done. Which is why it’s comical to argue otherwise.

But teams rest starting players who aren’t 100% to get them healthy for the playoffs. Teams do this every year and that’s what I was referring to in every post I’ve made.

GB has a few banged up players who have been nursing nagging injuries for a large part of the season. I’m suggesting they will give those players the rest they need to get healthy. That could come in the form of missed practice days, limited snap counts or even sitting out all or part of the game. Why risk further injury for a better seed? Or even why risk them not being as healthy as possible for week one of the playoffs? GB won’t put beating MIN over getting those players healthy for the playoffs.

That’s the point I’ve been saying from the top down.

I don’t think so. Something is up with Jaire. It’s a weird situation. He’s an odd bird. The beat has really struggled to find out what the precise injury situation is. Lafleur is clearly annoyed by the situation.

I’d agree that Watson would go but I think he may anyways. Even just 15 reps in which he runs 9s and posts for spacing.

Same with Bullard perhaps. Unsure if he’ll be back but they just elevated Omar Brown so that might suggest Bullard is out tomorrow as Brown is that slot/safety type like Javon as opposed to the also injured Evan Williams

They’re not going to force injured players to play regardless. This isn’t the 1970s NFL. If you’re too hurt to play, you’re too hurt to play. Is there some gray area on account of stakes? Sure, but for the most part the Packers are going to approach tomorrow’s game like any other divisional contest when it comes to their approach to their injury situation.

I totally disagree with that and do 100% believe teams that truly have nothing to play for in final week of season will rest several starters. I think by saying “it’s comical to argue you otherwise”’ is just your way of dismissing a truth to fit your narrative. This is something that could be fact checked easily with a beer and 20 minutes of research.

The board has had several posters (you included) suggesting GB could rest starters for two straight weeks which I do not believe has ever happened in the NFL for reason I gave in initial post.

I agree with your point on banged up players sitting but IMO your post and others do not read that way.

I truly believe the next time a team rest starters for 2 weeks will be the first time it happens. Again, this could be fact checked pretty easily.

We just need GB to win.

I don’t see how you can argue it doesn’t when health and getting healthy has been in ever post.

I’ve clarified it with each and every post.

But my lord you guys just want to argue a narrative that’s not there.

For the love of god…. What the ■■■■ is wrong with you guys.

Me - Hey the sky is blue but when it storms it’s grey.
You - No the sky is blue not grey.
Me - Yes when it’s good weather but I am talking about when it storms it turns grey.
You - No that’s not what you meant.
Me - I literally said when it storms it’s grey.
You - Yeah it didn’t read that way. You’re moving the goal post to when the weather is bad. That’s an exception and not a rule. The sky is blue.
Me - I never moved the goal post. I literally stated when it storms (highlighting it in every post)
You - Yeah that’s not what you meant.
Me - WTF???

But what about at night @Air2theThrown the sky is clearly not blue right now :joy: I kid. I kid.

In Honolulu the sky isn’t blue. It’s Kool-Aid colored.

It was a couple of years ago they were a pretender with an inflated record waiting to come back to Earth. But that’s not the case this year. Vikes are pretty good.

Exactly -

I do not know if I should buy some of you guys a drink or strangle you….lol

Time for bed.

I hate to say it but Go Pack Go tomorrow …. One of my good buddies is a die hard packers fan and he doesn’t think there’s a chance in hell that GB wins tomorrow. He thinks the refs won’t allow it if the game is close. Hope he’s wrong.

Personally I think GB is a better team than MIN I’d rather face MIN again than GB.

The amount of Packers fans that think the refs are out to get them is rather surprising. I guess every fan base does :man_shrugging:
