Lions beat reporter confirms fans' worst fears after Micah Parsons trade

Not fearing the Packers even after the trade. If the Lions can stay healthy, Detroit will be the team to be feared.

The Packers made a bold move, there’s no doubt. Will it payoff and payoff is a Super Bowl win or it’s not a success.

We still have the most talented roster and playmakers all over the place on both sides of the ball. Of course we’d love to have Parsons but it would be a win this year or bust kind of move and I’ll pass on that. Injuries are just too unpredictable and I’m certainly not wishing this but he could get hurt in week one and now you’re screwed.

I’ll continue to put my trust in Holmes and Campbell.

I think I read the exact same article about a decade ago with Khalil Mack. How’d that turn out? Parson is great but he’s one dimensional. I’m sure our coaching staff are licking their chops to put Parsons in some difficult situations.

Just to be clear, this is the guy questioning Brad Holmes.

I’m riding with Team Brad, thank you very much.

Worked out for the Rams :man_shrugging:

The best way to stop an offense is with pass rush… Especially an immobile QB like Goff. The Packers made a bold move, but it’s a great move IMO. They’re a playoff team, they’re never going to get a player like Micah in the draft in the 20s… It’s basically trading 2 late 1sts/early 2nds… Totally worth it for the player they got in return. The money? Well, the Lions are going to pay their premier pass rusher top of the market money, so that’s no different. Anyway you slice it, the Packers got much better at affecting the opponents offense… Sure you COULD beat them running the ball, but if you get behind that game plan goes out the window and the field really tilts in GB’s favor. All those deep shots Morton talks about wanting to take this year? They just got harder against the Pack. In the end, GB’s season will boil down to how well Love plays… But they’re no doubt better now, and moving forward.

If the Packers drafted like the Lions the last 5 years they wouldn’t be able to, or need to make a move like this. I’d rather draft and develop guys.

Didn’t Parsons play for Dallas, last season?

How’d that turn out?

There is my point exactly…..injuries happen

But he didn’t play for Dallas in the 47-9 loss. Not that it would mattered.

Yeah, so, he’s human.

So….

Goudacunts gave up all that draft capital, a pro bowl NT, and gave well over the top of market money….

to get a player with an injury history!:open_mouth::smirking_face:

Were you feeling the same way when the Lions traded for Pat Swilling?

In the 4 years before the Lions got him Swilling had 54.5 sacks. Parsons has 52.5 in the past 4 years. Is Parsons going to be the same player when it’s 20F on the frozen tundra as he is in a 70F dome on carpet? He averages less than a sack a game. Is that enough to change the outcome? Can he do it against an above average LT or against the best RT in the league? Against perhaps the best offense in the league? I guess we’ll see, but personally I’m not that worried.

Dear football gods,

Please let the Parsons trade turn out just like this. You owe us!

It did, though honestly I’m struggling to think of examples of major free agent splashes that really did deliver for the teams that gave up a ton for them. Most really do seem to fizzle out. The Rams seemed to make it work, and I’m thinking of like maybe the Patriots adding Corey Dillon back in the day to help secure another Super Bowl win. (although I can’t even remember if that was a trade.) But in all seriousness, can people think of others that worked out like that? All the other big moves like this I can remember ended up being a big fail.

Soooo trade Hutch bc he got injured? Shouldn’t pay him? I’m confused what your point is.

I posted that earlier in another thread… The silver lining is he’ll play outdoors, in crappy weather, hopefully that makes him less impactufl. If you’re not that worried about a top 5 pass rusher going to the Lions biggest competition for the division (IMO) then Idk what to tell you, I think you’re being naive I guess. Do I think the Lions can beat them with Micah? Of course… Do I think it’s more difficult now? Again, of course.

I’m sorry… There is a zero percent chance I’d have offered him 47M year… there is a slight chance I’d given up a starter and 2 firsts…. Whatever is way the f@ck less than zero… that’s the odds I’d give all that up, AND PAY HIM MAHOMES MONEY!

He’s a very good player. Albeit, I think he’s overrated since he’s allowed to rush the passer with his ears pinned back on most downs. His team has been a liability against the run for 4 years in Dallas…. They finished 15th, 21st, 15th, and 29th!!!

The packers were 7th against the run last year, and they just lost their best run defender-

2024- Packers 45 sacks

2024- Cowboys 52 sacks

2023- Packers 45 sacks

2023- Cowboys 46 sacks

Kenny Clark had 7.5 sacks in 23’ and just 1 last year. Replacement Karl Brooks had 4.5 and 3.5 sacks the last 2 years.

This Preston Smith and Gary had 17 sacks combined in 2023- Preston Smith lost snaps to Enagbare last year and rotated snaps along with Gary and LVN- the 4 combined for 18 sacks.

Micah has consistent taken 800-900 snaps to hit his 13 sack per year average. I predict that Gary, Enagbare and LVN hit maybe 13 sacks combined with 1,000 shared snaps and Micah may hit his average of 13-

I won’t be shocked if Hutch hits 13, Davenport gets 4.5, Muhammad gets 3 and I still think we add a vet.
