I’m feeling more optimistic about this game in light of how Detroit and Philly played in their respective matchups. Through 9 games, Eagles are bottom half in the league in defense and offense—Lions are top 10 in both. Eagles use their talent wisely though, and can scheme ways to hurt you. I just think the Lions are too talented; we can handle Hurts the way we did Lamar, the question is whether the o-line can hold up against the Philly front.
We’ll find out right away if this past weekend was the result of Dan’s magic or just a really terrible Washington team.
I’m curious if our players stepped up their game last weekend due to Dan making the calls. Like most here I think Dan has an incredible influence over the team whether he’s running the O during the game or not. Obviously. But I do wonder with him calling plays it gave the Offense some extra juice and focus for the game. I hope it continues
I just don’t see the defensive game that happened last night. Any news on Lane Johnson? Or other injuries from their Monday night game? I think both teams want this win. IGGLES are at home, but I think our guys have more to prove and more to gain. Gonna git r done.
I truly think Detroit is the better team, and I’ll even go as far to say way more talented. I also think Detroit matches up great.
BUT the Lions have to play their game. The OL has to hold up. Go hard with Sonic and Knuckles (not just sonic), Goff to ARSB as usual, plays for Jamo, and healthy does of LaPorta.
On defense, they need to be stout at stopping the run which is what they’re normally great at. Keep it man to man. Hopefully Kerby is back. Enough pressure on Hurtz will rattle him. Hurtz is not a great passer.
I am worried about their Dline. I think one of the reasons Philly vs Packers was low scoring is bc both teams have great Dlines. Going to be a tough game.
Yep for sure. This is one of the reasons I’m feeling better with Dan calling the plays. There’s ways to mitigate a good pass rush. Quick passes, crosses and screens. One of the major problems with Morton was the way he was using Jamo: mostly as a decoy or on long developing deep shots. Against a good pass rush it almost made it like we were playing 10 against 11. I think Dan understands how to counteract that defensive line of the Eagles. Plus the Eagles have to be shitting themselves a little bit not knowing what Dan is going to do. He’s crazy and very aggressive.
so the lions have been oddly really hot and cold but I attribute that to morton. I think dan calls a great game offensively but I worry about our defense. I’m surprised that we’re really mostly healthy but we have similar issues to last year.
HOWEVER I always said if we just had a middle of the road defense and played our offense the way it should be played we’re pretty much unstoppable.
Offense looks great and the defense is top half in the NFL.
Agreed, the defense has been a little bit sketchier than I thought it would. Losing DJR as well as Arnold every other series has hurt. Also Kerby has been a big loss. Hopefully McNeil gets his wheels back underneath him and back to his dominant ways. I think he could be a catalyst for that defensive line to really start bringing pressure. I’m sure he’ll get better as he recovers more.
