Lions free-agents entering this off-season

I was on the let David go and sign Levi train but after watching our CB group turn to Vildor down the stretch I want to lock down the best players we can period.

Davis is a better player than Levi BUT… I would love to get them both back.

Yeah but Davis is gonna be close to $20 million a year. Levi will probably be $8 at the ABSOLUTE most.

Also not giving out second round pick (1st round graded rakestraw a chance).

I say all that but i absolutely LOVE Davis.

Those are my main desired guys to bring back.

After them: C. Davis, Commish and iffy.

I

They really like OG Netane Muti

Obviously all comes down to who the DC is. Thats got to get done asap.

According to OTC Pitman and Adams are UFA not RFA.

Skipper is my #1.

Hate to tell you this. Idk if he makes it.

He may make the practice squad. But if Manu takes a step forward this off season. Hes taking Skippers spot.

Unless there is some other mechanic in play that I’m not sure about, they should be RFAs. Players with 3 accrued seasons (has to play 6 games/on IR in a season to be considered an accrued season) and an expired contract is given an RFA designation.

Pittman may be a little tricky. He was an RFA last season, but I can’t find any rule that states a player can only be given RFA status once. He was RFA last season, and didn’t accrue another season this year as he only played in 4 games total. So he is technically a player with 3 years and an expiring contract, which by rule…should make him an RFA. Again, I don’t know if there is some rule I’m unaware of, but if there isn’t, it seems like he should be an RFA again. But would also make a ton of sense if you could only be given an RFA designation once…but that isn’t how the rule reads from the NFL, so I’m not sure what his final designation ends up:

Myles Adams should be an RFA, flat out. He accrued his 3rd season this year, playing in 7 games. Unless there is some weird rule that because he started the season with the Seahawks, they are considered his ‘original team’ for this season and thus would only be an RFA if he was stilll with them. Again, this isn’t a rule that seems to have that language in it, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense if that’s how it worked:

I’ve probably read through the CBA Article on RFAs 3 times looking for anything that would indicate Pittman and Adams shouldn’t be RFAs, but I can’t find anything.

Maybe I’m missing something, but people can give themselves a look:

What we know is that he shut down Justin Jefferson as an outside CB. You don’t send that down the road if you don’t have to.

Especially when he’s already under contract.

I think you’re right on both Pittman and Adams (should be RFA’s), but really doesn’t matter, neither will receive a RFA tender and both will become UFA’s when that happens.

Yeah, that’s kind of what I figured, anyways. Neither is getting tagged, so in the end, they’re essentially UFAs.

Not an irreplaceable player. Except Skipper, maybe.

Edit: Keep the kicker!

I had a a lot of typos. I meant to keep amik robertson on the outside and try rakestraw at nickel in the interim.

We only NEED Davis is AG returns.

Even then Davis was a mid 2nd round pick

Gotta have them back: Zeitler, CDIII, and Barnes. Those are the guys I don’t mind paying extra to keep.

Would like to have them back: Dorsey, Patrick, Muhammad, Awosika, Levi. I thought about putting Barnes here as well but Rodrigo’s injury means I can’t let a good starting LB walk.

They will be back: Skipper and Netflix. Culture players that Dan loves. Holmes will give them fair offers.

A lot of the other players would come down to value and where things stand after the draft for me. A healthy Cominskey is a valuable depth player at DE/DT but not someone I would prioritize, for example.

I’m torn on CD. I can’t just rid myself of that 3rd round sunk cost we invested. CD isn’t the only “man corner” we’ve got. We dropped a 1st and 2nd round pick on guys like that. Dropped a 2 yr FA contract on a guy like that (Amik). Moving to a zone heavy scheme would be a lot slower of a process than just bringing in a guy (or elevating from within) a guy who is going to play to the talent he has. I don’t think CD will command top CB bucks. But as we painfully saw Saturday night, you can’t have enough CB’s. Rakestraw didn’t get enough time to develop this year. We can’t assume he’s ready. If our problem in 2025 and beyond is Rakestraw is outperforming CD at outside CB, then I’m willing to live with that.

The other side of that if he isn’t ready or him or TA get hurt, we have a guy who played pretty good ball and fits the culture ready with some tread on the tires yet. We are going to have guys who would start on lesser teams, riding the pine here. It’s just where we’re at. But we aren’t where you can go on hopes and dreams of a draft pick being a high end starter right away. That is not fair to a team ready to get a ring.

Idk about Zeitler Mahogany has already passed Glasgow and Zeitler according to PFF grades. And since glasgow is already on the roster next year. No point to sign him. Bring in another young player to develop vs a mid 30s player.

CD3 absolutely’

Barns - idk maybe on a cheap prove it deal. Hes missed WAY too much time last 3 seasons to be paid a big contract.

Dorsey - he can be kept for cheap and he versatile. Returner and depth corner

Patrick - depends what he wants. He wants a cheap deal to get a ring. For sure. He wants to pull a reynolds and chase $ seeya.

Mo and awosika will be cheap.

Levi no idea at all. Cominsky type deal?

Skipper? Nope he gone. Having 11 OL on the 53 man really put them in a bind.
If everyone is healthy.
Decker, Mahogany, Rags, GG, Sewell

Manu is the new jumbo set.
Sorsdal all around backup.
They will probably bring back one of the cheap guards.
Skip can come back on the PS.

Netflix. Idk. One of those special teams gadget players at the bottom of the roster. They have Vaki now.

WHAT? No way. Skipper’s coming back for a burger and fries on Tuesdays.
