Lions’ Jameson Williams on finding his place within the offense: ‘It ain’t easy’

You must be fun at parties.

I think you should change your handle to coldvin…

People can’t see the forest for the trees here. I believe it is because of circumstance but the disconnect is kind of breathtaking IMO.

Jameson’s skill is this:

When he is attempting to get somewhere quickly his foot explodes with a ferocious power unleashing a stride far longer than the average NFL athlete. He then repeats that stride at a greater frequency than other players…

Anyways, you get the point. People dissect his interviews and I get it, he’s not intelligent. We’re not paying him bc he’s intelligent. We’re paying him bc he’s fast and athletic as hell.

We want him to be Mr. run fast, catch ball (enter joke here), make people miss. The idea of “cerebral Jamo” is ludicrous.

It’s a bit like Da Problem. Let flamethrowers flame throw. Yes there is chaos there. But you know what scares the shit out of other OCs and DCs?

Chaos

106 snaps or about 1.5 actual games worth of action. That’s why.

Dig deeper into your response and ask why? Guys coming back from ACLs don’t take 6 games to get full time snaps (unless they’re not good and/or showing things in practice to warrant snaps). Take the blue glasses off and think about what is happening here…the player is not good therefore getting treated like a fringe roster player (which he is).

It’s funny how the narratives build in the NFL, mostly because the actual play time is so short and the weeks in between are so long. Not to mention the long offseason and endless conjecture about rosters and on and on.

The script can flip very quickly for a naturally talented player, whether he’s perceived to be in good standing character-wise or not.

Jamo just needs to stick with the program. Ben will have plays dialed up for him this week. There is a plan for every player on the offense. On the road in Tampa, Jamo could help take the air out of the stadium with an early bomb TD. I would expect to see Ben test the Bucs deep today. Jamo has just one TD, but has gotten behind secondaries several times for what could have been a long TD. If Monty gets rolling, I think we can expect Jamo will get his looks off play action.

If he scores a couple of TDs today, then we get a whole week of Jamo has arrived and he’s all that and more.

This is a huge part of the problem. Jamo didn’t have a big game last Sunday, and on Wednesday, critics are whining that he hasn’t accomplished anything additional in the intervening three days.

Yep. And it’s clearly on Jamo to do his job, whatever is asked of him. On the field, he’s been executing his blocking assignments and seems genuinely hyped when his teammates succeed. Is he immature, maybe. Probably.

I think everyone, from Brad, Dan and Ben to the fans and media, would like to see the Jamo question marks erased by a solid outing today. I just hope the kid makes the most of whatever opportunities he is afforded today.

This is going to be a good topic to come back to within the next few weeks.

It indicates that his head is in the game and we’re not dealing with an attitude problem or a lazy player or a diva. It further suggests that, because his head is in the game, he can get on the same page as Goff.

Puka already has an established value. Williams has a giant unknown X variable/value.

I’d make that trade in a heart beat if the Rams also threw in say, a 4th or 3rd round pick.

I’m sure the Rams would not do that, but if they did.

I’m sure the Rams would not. I’m pretty damn sure Brad wouldn’t either. I don’t think Jamo is nearly the unknown that people make him out to be. The hands may prove spotty but the athleticism is apparent. Puka’s a nice player but Jamo
I precisely what this offense needs to go to the next level. I’m confident that it will happen.

Think about the history of NFL draft picks that had speed and athleticism that never made much of an impact. Especially at WR. Its a long list.
That’s why I would take a known value over a prospect at this point.

It’s not just speed and athleticism though. There is toughness there, there is passion there. He has many of the traits that those that flame out do not. The others (and the likely a majority for that matter) are due to body’s breaking down which could happen. Barring injury Jamo is going to be somewhere between a useful but flawed NFL player and an absolute superstar. The variance simply comes down to where the hands settle.

I bet it wasn’t.

Sorry, that’s not true at all. Jamo could have caught the ball and still had time to plant a foot and make a move. A NFL wide receiver has to make this catch and if he thinks he’s going to get clobbered, he needs to know how to get down or make a move. Just because there’s a defender 3-4 yards away, is no excuse. He totally short-armed it and was looking to make a move before he caught it.

Yup. This SS is from after he drops the ball

That’s easy enough space to catch it and change direction to lose the defender. He’s a good ten yards away

Free Jamo.
