I read today that he has 3 head coaching job interviews lined up plus the Lions OC interview. I really didn’t even check the source, so take it with a grain of salt. Unless you’re on a no salt diet of course.
If you just posted the Potassium salt version of news I’m going to be very disappointed in you.
Interesting that the Lions are the only team that he’s taking an OC interview for
The opinion of one independent observer.
Im not sure that McDaniel fits “culturally” anywhere…lol
I think the guy is an offensive genius but he also seems very awkward socially.
This is just my opinion but the guy seems so uncomfortable in front of a camera that an OC job would seem to suit him better. A job that doesn’t require a bunch of after game interviews and such.
Benjamin was and still is kinda awkward too. Might be the right type of personality to pair with Dan
I agree . I edited my post to better reflect what I was thinking.
He went to Yale so it’s not that unsurprising. Choosing any other OC position wouldn’t be a smart decision.
My thoughts exactly but I am not this random source..I don’t think.
This whole discussion just takes me back over and over to Nick Saban and Kiffin.
Saban realized that he had to open up his offense and push the limit on that side of the ball if he wanted to keep winning. So he hired Kiffin. And I can not fathom a bigger Odd Couple than those 2.
MCDC is kind of on record as stating he wants authentic humans in his circle. So I am not sure is McDaniels seemingly quirky personality is even a thought. Can he coach and will he grind and does he have grit?
The hair color, length, tattoo’s…..etc do not seem to be part of MCDC decision matrix
Gonna be honest, I watched a long form interview with Mike and he sounds like he’d be a good fit here.
He like everyone from that Shanahan tree has issues with late game/short yardage stuff but I think I want him here now
I have lots of Jamo shares in fantasy so I have an additional bias.
Kind of feeling like Kafka may be at the top of my list. But I would certainly love MM as well.
I wouldn’t be opposed to Kafka at all, but there’s been no word of interest. I would have thought something would come out.
So, just thinking here…. Which is scary in and of itself ![]()
Didn’t Dan, himself, with obvious owner approval, reach out immediately for this guy…. Before literally anyone else? Didn’t Dan help him in his sobriety and recovery somehow?
Why would we think indirectly that Dan would do this if her was truly a complete dick..?
We all….. can be total dicks at times…
Maybe he was over whelmed at Miami and didn’t have any good outreach or someone to talk to he actually trusted? So he acted out some…… just like we all do
If Dan and company hire him, let’s kick some butt!!
I suppose he could be getting some of those interviews to satisfy the Rooney Rule, too?
Yeah, I don’t think being a bit of a weirdo is a problem in and of itself.
On top of what was mentioned above, I also think the other requirement is to be able to work professionally with the players. It sounds like Morton’s alienation of the players was a contributor to his firing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the unforgivable sin.
I personally don’t think Morton was that bad but I don’t matter, if watch the post game interviews it feels kinda obvious the players were fed up with Morton
He is still under contract with New York from what I understand.
The $4.5 million salary was his original deal…
his yearly salary for the extension he signed last year has not been made public…. though I did read it was believed to put him in the top tier of coaching salaries.
