We cry about dont spend money Holmes wont spend and yet do this. I may be autistic but this is holy shit dumb signing. Watch sneed goes for a 3rd and a future pick.
It’s not dumb. It’s a calculated risk.
Risk over reward. I perfer reward
I would rather not sign anyone than sign often injured players! And that is all Holmes does then trade for a CB that has never played a full season. Sorry guys can’t get excited especially about the Davenport move. He is a 1st rd bust. We are going backwards at this point. Hope we are bringing on extra medical staff this season because we are going to need it.
Bingo. Just really dumb signing.
Ok. Seems you already know how Davenport’s 2024 turns out. I do not so you’ll have to cut me some slack.
Have I been magically transported into a Game Day Thread? Lions should write a letter to the NFL tomorrow and let them know they’re cancelling their season. No point in playing.
The Lions are going backwards? Ok, I have to leave this place for a while. Hyperbole is out in full force. I’ll check back tomorrow.
lol, I literally just had a post typed up saying the same thing but decided against it
Well I mean Christ, it’s been a whopping 8 hours in and half the board is preparing to hit the nuclear launch codes on this FA period. Which again, started 8 hours ago. It’s not even technically FA period.
What the hell are we doing here? I agree with @NYLion59. Hyperbole off the charts.
There’s a couple but most here understand what BH is doing.
May question it, sure, but most aren’t falling off the cliff like the usual few.
I think that’s fair enough. It’s just the “usual few” are in EVERY thread saying the same thing so it makes it seem like it’s more than usual.
They are upgrading the training staff is the word in Allen Park maybe picking up a couple trailers for all the guys they are picking up that never play.
Now THAT I called.
With Davenport in the stable with Da Problem, does Darius Robinson become more draftable for us?
To all the people unhappy with today’s business, go and watch Brad’s end of season press conference again.
A summary:
- don’t believe what you see in the media
- we don’t care about winning the offseason
- we are deliberate in what we do, and what we don’t do
- we will stick to the same processes and principles that have served us well so far, which is building through the draft and supplementing with free agency
- we have done things that were criticised that worked out really well, we know better than fans and media
This is how it’s going to be. Everyone loved the press conference and Brad taking victory laps. Now that he’s turning those words into actions, fans are losing their shit.
In fairness I think it’s a vocal minority. He who yells the loudest gets the ears.
Maybe I’m the only one, but I’m absolutely thrilled with this deal. Davenport has been injured, yes, however I don’t feel it’s a chronic body failure as much as bad luck Charlie situations. I legitimately believe Davenport has All Pro level talent, and the staying healthy part is a big if, but this man brings it.
Playing opposite Hutchinson, man, I really feel like it’s 75% of the puzzle. If we can just get a DT that can push the pocket, this could be an absolute killer combination when that QB rolls, and it doesn’t matter which direction they roll. Davenport on one side, Hutchinson on the other, one outstretched arm and its over. Sack attack baby!
I did not know he was even with the Vikings. In 2021 he was one of the best DEs in the NFL and not just a 3rd down pass rusher. He can set an edge and keep the scrambling QBs in the pocket. So what happened to him the last 2 years? Does anyone know what his injuries were?
Last year was a high ankle sprain that required surgery. You can see all the rest of his injuries here - Marcus Davenport Injury History & Updates
