I’d draft the best/favorite player at every spot. Can’t guarantee it’ll match up with positions, but getting my guys would be ideal (essentially what I believe Brad does).
BUT!
If QB doesn’t match up anywhere, I would absolutely shoehorn that position into somewhere late, just to get a young guy in camp. To important.
I can’t imagine the Lions wanting to spend more on a backup QB than the $1.4M Dobbs is getting. Dobbs can get us through a couple also-ran teams on our schedule and if we lose Goff for more than that, we’re pretty much screwed.
Unless, Dobbs is injured, I think we’re done hunting for a better QB.
For a couple weeks back in 2022. He was on the practice squad for 2 weeks before the titans signed him away. He’s spent time with 9 different nfl teams.
Generally speaking, mid- and late-round quarterbacks are total wastes of a pick. Overall, it’s far more effective to pick other positions in those rounds, as they can contribute in so many other ways.

Yes, there are a couple of guys who are okay backups there, but the point is you don’t need to draft them. Even the guys like Minshew bounce around, so drafting them isn’t some big advantage.
I think it’s more a philosophy. You could make a list like that for every position.
QB is to important. I’d swing for the fences everytime. Add on the possible trade haul if he does well ala Matt Schaub and Jimmy G.
I counted 12 guys that would be awesome backups. And then to think guys like Garrard and Prescott, at worst would fetch a nice trade possibly.
The “Passtronaut” (didn’t know that was his nickname until just now) was a media darling a couple years ago for the Vikings… Won 2 games in a row and played pretty well before falling off a cliff… That’s all you can ask from a backup QB
