Lions sign K Zane Gonzalez

Get ready for a lot of games lost due to field goals…

There’s a reason why Gonzalez was available.

I thought Bullock would be fine. This isn’t looking good a-tall.

This is the guy Prater replaced.

Sign me up for Kavyon or one of the QBs in 2022

Field goals? We don’t kick no stinkin’ field goals. We kick extra points…

Nordin is looking good for the Pats… maybe pick him up if he doesnt beat out Folk. Or pick up Folk if he does.

In 2019, Gonzalez was actually very good. Made 31 of 35 field goals for 89%. 2020 was rough though for sure, only hitting 73%. Nothing wrong with adding competition. He’s also only 26 years old.

And for those saying we are going miss Prater, he only hit 75% last year, which was his career low. Just thought that was worth noting, he was far from reliable last year.

40-49 yds seems to be his bugaboo. only 62% in 2019 and 2020 ( with a significant number of attempts in each year), rock solid from 39 in. was 2-2 in 2019 and 2-3 in 2020 from 50+

Good research! Decent kicker, just no consistency on long kicks.

We’ve down graded at kicker and it’s disappointing that we didn’t put much effort into solving it.

I’m ok with moving on from Prater but don’t make a significant downgrade.

From what I saw at practices our kicking game sucks. It’s no surprise after the recent bad practices by our kickers that we have brought in more competition.

Unfortunately we’re in a hot mess there.

Sheesh… I think Nate Freese is available…

Prater definitely has a big leg and has been great from 50+ yards.
Prater is 13/18 from 50+ over past 2 years (72%).
Zane G. also missed 5 kicks of 50+ in past 2 years, but only had 13 attempts (61.5%).

As for the 40-49 range referenced above…

Prater is 10/16 from 40-49 over past 2 years (62.5%).
Zane G. was 13/21 from 40-49 in past 2 years (62%).

In 2020… Zane missed 6 FGs.
They were 41, 45, 48, 49, 51, and 56 yards.
Only 1 kick missed under 45 yards.

Here are his 16 made FG distances.

He had 8 made kicks of 45+ yards in 2020.

In 2020, Zane G. hit a 56-yarder outdoors on grass.

In 2017, he hit from 54 yards on a windy day in Cleveland on grass.

Hope he can put it all together this year.

Hoping that another team has a good kicker battle going on for preseason. Then we pick up the loser.

We now lead the league in the number if Zzzs in our kicking game.

AND

The number if Xs and Os in our kicking game.

Next up, we already lead the league in Nigerians on defense (6), add 5 more and we can be the football equivalent of the Red Wings Russian 5 and Swedish 5…and I would bet close to as bad ass

…though it’s hard to top a 5 man hockey group where a 30 goal scorer was your least talented guy…

Wtf did we not resign Prater? We had money. I bet we lose 2-3 games this year cause we don’t have a kicker.

How are you just finding this out…

Kavyon to the Lions, confirmed.

Just curious. I wonder if Legatron could kick a 60 yard FG at the end of a game, say, 25% of the time, more often than a Hail Mary would be successful?
