After the noticing the # of LB’s signed/re-signed, I was prompted to look at last year’s early roster.

The only real ST LB on last year’s roster was JRM. This year it’s Nowaske, Pittman, Turner and Stuard. Last year’s team did have B-Jo and CJ Moore (safeties), which we don’t have this year.

Most likely this difference can be attributed to:

  1. Preference based on the new ST rules (and a year of experience in it)
  2. Cutting things too thin last year at LB (I remember Sheppard saying something in last year’s inside the den)
  3. Maybe an intentional effort to limit their defensive starter’s ST snaps (Campbell and Barnes, in particular)

ETA: I should probably mention that by week 1 of the regular season, we did add Niemann and Nowaske to the roster, so it’s not like we went into the season with only 5 LBs. There were 7. Still, things seem a bit more intentional ~early~ this year.

Here’s my review of the new kickoff…

I ■■■■■■■ hate the new kickoff. The new onside kick policy is a joke. Hey everyone, we are going to onside kick, why don’t we let you call a timeout so you can prepare for it. Oh and the landing zone can suck my balls. Zero stars.

Other than that the new kickoff is great :wink:

it really does. it needs some tweaks for sure. I would just move the kicker back at least 5 yards, maybe 10.
