We should be bringing in Conner too

You will not find a harder worker than Conner but I would prefer somebody with a little more juice. No pun intended

Oh please shut up ahole. The OTC site just updated. When I posted that it still had him on the Lions and a zero cap hit.

But anyway, DMont was never going to play for the money that contract promised. It still amounts to $12m in salary that the Lions have moved on from, even if not all guaranteed.

And I’ve heard enough of your opinions about things outside of football to know how smart you are. But keep patting yourself on the back!

I don’t believe you, I’m hip to all your sneaky puns.

He’s a cheap vet who has thrived in Petzing’s scheme when healthy. Plus I like the idea of him being on a winner, he’d be great for the locker room.

Did I see it right that Scruggs played center his rookie year?
If so with GG being released is it possible they see him as possible competition at Center?
Seems his down year last year was after an injury and being put at Guard

Edit: Just saw your guys takes on this over in the “Juice Scruggs” thread

God I hope not, but if history is an indication of the future it sure seems like this is what Brad likes to do.

He did, yes, and he was promising.

It’s been all downhill since though.

He’s a flyer at C, that’s about it. Hope he pans out but don’t bet on it, we’re just getting a cheap look at him imo.

That depends. Juice’s salary is not guaranteed. If we cut him on the last day of training camp or thereabouts, no problemo.

With respect also, I am looking at this in ways I believe others arent. People like to come at me with demanding their opinons are acceptable while my opinions are not. Except for people calling him a little bitch. Thats disgusting, disrespectful, and it’s cowardly.

With respect I think this was a terrible trade. I explained myself plenty on why. People want to argue with me that he wasn’t that good. It’s fine. I’m allowed to believe he was a great player. I had him easily top 10. Whether you or anyone esle agrees or not. Again, other people demand their opinion be okay while mine arent.

I will never understand after two years of him and Gibbs dominating how they could mess that up.

People also say “he wanted out”. Sure, maybe, and he’s got reason to, but he was definately pushed out also.

Anyway, obviously i hope it works out for us. I hope I’m wrong on this. Whats done is done. I’m glad they did right by him. And getting a 4th is decent. And I hope the best for him. I’ll be cheering him.

According to PFF, he’s awful.

And you can count me among those who think their assessments are worth something.

PFF grades on the O-line or D-line can be way off.

They generally aren’t off base when rating someone well, but some of the lower grades seem unwarranted. On the D-line, it’s especially off for true space-eating DTs, punishing a guy for not generating QB pressures when that isn’t his primary job. On the O-line, their interior grades are oftentimes iffy at best. Stunts and twists in blitz packages don’t seem to get accounted for, and the wrong lineman gets the bad grade for a snap where his assignment didn’t even get pressure. They really need to tweak things in those areas.

I can go with, “He’s a great player.” That’s entirely reasonable. People may disagree, it’s a forum. We all have to expect people pushing back on our opinions here. But I’ll go with this premise right off the bat, for the sake of understanding. I’ll also concede that the Lions had their own agenda. They weren’t going to reduce Gibbs’ usage, they wanted to save money, and quite likely they’re none too fond of players grumbling on social media.

I’d still put a slightly different twist on this, though, conceding all that. I still wouldn’t say it’s a terrible trade – rather, I’d say it’s terrible news. Or a terrible situation. A terrible loss. What’s terrible is that Knuckles wanted out. There’s nothing good about a great player wanting to go somewhere else.

Do you dispute he wanted out?

I think that’s the crux of it. If you don’t think he wanted out, of course it’s a terrible trade. But if he really did want out – which is entirely reasonable, getting an opportunity to be RB1 and get one more big contract – it’s not a terrible trade, because it’s accommodating everyone’s needs.

I can’t separate the trade from the context of what Monty wanted. What could the Lions have done to get him to want to stay, assuming Monty really wants a crack at RB1?
