Maxx talks about to ramp up

Listen, I like Maxx a lot. But the guy has 3.5 more sacks than AQM over the last two seasons.

We’re not talking about Myles Garrett. And Maxx is as old as he’s ever been.

Max Crosby and Montez Sweat have played something like 90-95% of their snaps on the left side of the defensive line. Also paid a TON for Odeyingbo just last year who is their other end. What are they gonna do? Move him to 3rd down DT and backup edge? Doubtful.

I’m not saying the Bears won’t deal for him, but I highly doubt they do.

I just want to say this argument is made almost every year, for every position. “Next years class” until we get to next year and then the cycle repeats. It’s a big one with quarterbacks. Funnily enough 9/10 the year comes up and we then hear about how it’s a garbage class. I’m not advocating either way, I just hate that argument.

Bears gonna land Maxx today …

I say who cares. They still have to fill 2 starters on the OLine. One of their 3 current starters is Jonah Jackson who is a question mark despite being solid in 2025. They might have to cut Kmet, Swift, and will definitely cut Trumaine Edmunds. And have zero Safeties on the roster.

So they need a starting LT & C. A starting RB and either a WR3 or TE2. No middle linebacker, and no safeties. They currently sit at ~8m in cap space and cutting all those guys gives them about ~40m before adding Crosby…

Trade the valuable picks they need to acquire Crosby and they aren’t filling their holes. Not even close.

Adding Crosby doesn’t make their 2026 roster better than 2025. A starting edge isn’t even a need for them. Already have 46m allocated to the edge position this year and again in 2027.

Is this being reported somewhere?

No, I’m willing it into non-existence.

I think Maxx ends up in Dallas.

I don’t think people realize how barren the Bears roster is on defense and now they need a center.

It is, but this time it’s real!

Seriously though, even for those classes, none came close even this far out of being as highly-regarded as the 2027 class.

Jeremiah Smith is the best WR prospect since Calvin Johnson or Julio. Cam Coleman and Ryan Williams are also tiers above any WR from this class going into next season (though Williams needs to bounce back).

Dylan Stewart and Colin Simmons are two Julius Peppers level edge prospects.

Leonard Moore is a Surtain, Stingley, Patrick Peterson level prospect. If he really pops off next year, we could be talking Deion-level stratosphere here.

Dante Moore would be a slam dunk #2 overall pick this year if he’d come out, yet I just saw a mock where he was the 6th QB off the board next year. There’s also Arch Manning, Julian Sayin, LaNorris Sellers, Drew Mestemaker, Lagway, Mensah, Sorsby, Maiava. Now here is where I really agree, QB classes tend to disappoint. But not always (see 2024).

Goosby and Seaton aren’t all time OT prospects, but they’d probably both be first off the board in this year’s class.

Kade Pieper is a Linderbaum level center prospect.

The iDL class is loaded with Jared Ross, David Stone, A’Mauri Washington, all of whom would go above any DT this year. And Justin Scott, Maraad Watson, Ahmad Moten, Jayden Jackson have all the drafty-tools to rise really high.

And the CB depth behind Moore is fantastic.

It really is an all-time class.

Going to wait for the college season to be at least midway done before I jump on that bandwagon. A lot can happen between now and then. Wouldn’t be the first time highly regarded prospects completely shit the bed, get arrested or get high while wearing a darth vader like mask.

No it would not.

So let me rephrase: at this point, a year out, the 2027 class is better than any other class this century was a year out. But as you said, a lot can change, and you didn’t even mention some of them going back to school

I think Cowboys make the most sense. 17 million less that Parson a season and the best run defender in the league.

Best run defender in the league? He’s not even in Vita Vea’s stratosphere as a run defender. Do you mean as a defensive end? Even then he’s not as good as Mack, or some of the other primarily edge-setting DEs.

Cowboys Beat Reporter saying this

Someone is offering two firsts it seems… risky af move, considering Parsons was much younger and he got basically similar value.

Man I really hope it’s not us. Two 1sts is crazy.

I have heard from a TB fan buddy of mine that he’s hearing they’re in for him pretty heavily too, though it hasn’t been reported much.

The last time the Lions were involved in a trade where someone traded two first round picks, the team who traded those first round picks won the Super Bowl.
