I don’t hate the take. I’ll still take Goff, but am a bit concerned that it looks like GB hit on the QB position AGAIN. He looked pretty good last year. Hoping for some regression
Love had a worse QB play IMO. It was in the 4th quarter against the Falcons. The Packers were up 24-22 and LaFluer tried to do the thing where the QB screams a bunch of nonsense and the ball is never snapped. Young Jordan is given the green light to check to a QB sneak, so that’s what he does. However, he failed to let his lineman know. So he ran a QB sneak without the ball. He didn’t have the ball because the center wasn’t informed of the change. Young Jordan clumsily fell over and knocked his right guard down. The ball was backed up due to penalty and the Packers punted. The Falcons crammed it down their throats and scored the game winning touchdown. Packers lose.
That could well happen. In all the talk about Love, Matt LaFleur has to be accounted for. Love, Goff and Mahomes would be lesser versions of themselves with lesser coaches/coordinators pulling the strings.
I think defenses will attack Love more efficiently. I also think Matt LaFleur is perceptive enough to minimize those defensive adjustments eventually if not immediately.
I’m starting to rewatch all the 2023 games and I’m struck by how much changes throughout the season and from game to game. I’m pretty sure I’ll be fearing different things when we actually play the Packers, so I’m trying to not react too much to summer guesses announced through megaphones.
I didn’t watch much Love when he wasn’t playing the Lions or his playoffs
But the amount of wing and prayer throws he made that somehow the WR came down with was exceptional. Thats not a sustainable way to play. If (when) the success rate of those high risk high risk throws returns to median, those second half stats will look not nearly as impressive
It’s like the 2022 Vikings and their one score wins. That record was an illusion
Higher pick rate even though they are generally exceptionally low and also lower completion rate throughout all those even though they’re excellent. He did have one season where he put all that together that way but it’s the exception that proves the rule this kind of performance is incredibly rare and is generally not repeatable especially early in a quarterback’s career or as Rogers did it late in his career at basically his mental Peak
Im prerty comfortable dropping a Benjy on the idea that Love wont go 70% 38 TD 2 picks and 4600 yards
