Mize to the Padres

My reaction was it seemed, in relative terms, that the Tigers did better with the Mize trade than they did the Skubal trade.

Right now, I’d like to see the Tigers call up Anderson and see what we have with him as well. Hitting .315 with a .910 OPS. Strikeout ou rate of about 13%. Glad we held on to him during the trade deadline.

That massively depends on how Zyhir Hope works out. He could be a real player. He’s got power and speed. Could be a 30/30 guys. But right now he’s got to cut down on his strikeouts.

Why get rid of him i mean really?

True, but who here thinks Skubal gets signed by the Tigers in FA?

Sure add assets but add them in a place of need. IF they sign Mize back than I get this trade, but only time will tell.

Kash consideration.

Giving up. 2.5 out.

I didn’t think Skubal was signing in Detroit last year, this season, or in the upcoming offseason.

THAT is very much the point here.

The Tigers got a got ranked somewhere between #20-25 in all of MLB prospect rankings from what I have read, and that is fairly decent return for a player that almost certainly won’t be back.

.

Plus… there were very few prospects that would have been evwn discussed from other teams that were ranked higher.

By all accounts I have read, teams were very quick to shut down (publicly even) any discussion of a top 10 prospect being traded for a rental.

Then… when you eliminate teams that weren’t buyers at tue deadline, there were only a few teams that had a better prospect to offer than Zyhir Hope.

That’s pretty hilarious they have Sirota above Max Clark, I smell a Dodgers bias.

I think the tigers are one of the top four teams to sign skubal next year, maybe even better than that because I don’t know how the new CBA is going to affect the Dodgers ability to spend they may be cap restricted. I would also have to look at which teams have the payroll and the close to a World Series profile that school would fit into. Haven’t done that yet but it’s it’s a small number

So, you’re saying they come in 3rd in the Skubal sweepstakes?

I dont think Skubal has any interest in coming back to Detroit.

He seemed genuinely sad to see his teammates go. I don’t detect any positive feelings for Tigers ownership though. I doubt he’s back but who knows if there is a salary cap he could be on a surprise team that has cap space.

Maybe maybe not I guess no one’s really going to know. The Tigers will clear out a lot of salary and have room to bring him back. Got a little probably put some in the top six

You obviously don’t know your way around an Excel spreadsheet!

The BLOWPEN is just fine…

I see the twins got Jeff Hoffman after right at the deadline as well guys like him and brazoban and Luke Raley…. I mean they’re not the big names like some other guys but they were available for almost nothing and are definitely better than wagyu beef and Summers. I just don’t understand not getting a couple of guys who will push the other guys especially since the pen has been such a problem

And if the Tigers kept Mize and Skubal, get swept by Seattle people would bitch about why they weren’t sellers.

I guarantee I would have bitched. We made the right decision to sell. Now if we could have done better or bought some cheap relievers that’s a fair argument.

That spreadsheet poster may actually be the Tigers GM after today :joy:

The two arms they got in trade who are major league ready look like pen arms to me.
