Yea there are other players that would improve the Tigers not named DePaula just means you add a couple of them.

Sirota seems to be a good fit for what we need in our system. Him or Hope I’d be happy with. De Paula is obviously the prize.
I have seen Hope play and would be fine with him i went with Sirota because he is a RH batter

The Brewers have some awesome rookie ball guys. I’d try to get Alexander Frias in any deal. Good chance that he’s a top 20 prospect in all of baseball within a year or so.

Pena is going to be a star IMO. Plus hit and power, double plus speed. He would make a fine centerpiece for a skubal trade. This might just be the team who lands Skubal. Great pieces.
A rotation that has Miz, Skubal, and Henderson could potentially beat anybody in a 5 or 7 game series. Including the Dodgers. Especially a team like Milwaukee who plays baseball the right kind of way.

I was hoping to keep Mize but only if he signed a reasonable extension before the deadline.
At this point he will probably be the second best starting pitcher on the trade market. Should bring back a nice prospect or two.

Sign an extension before the lockout?
I just want this to work out like Flaherty did last year but on a bigger scale sans Skubal taking a step back next year like Flaherty has done…

It seems like there would be more risk in not signing. The money available could be significantly less after the lockout.
Ill be honest though I haven’t really thunk through all the ramifications either way.
Totally different style of extension. Burns was selling out FA years way into the future.
To which side? It takes two to tango. Do you think a former number 1OA pick finally breaking out wants to sign below market value? Do you think the Tigers want to go current full market value right now?
I just don’t see how an extension happens going into this uncertainty.
