But he did thrive behind Philly’s OL
Not really, but to each his own. Ask a Philly fan - a non-crazy one - what they think about him.
That’s like saying “ask a Lions fan what they think of Stafford”….you will definitely get mixed results. That said, statistically he was fine. He had 1049 yds and 5 TDs. That’s probably because Jalen Hurts had 15 rushing TDs and I’ll bet most of those were from inside the 10 yd line which takes away from Swifts opportunities. But he had more yards than DMont and Gibbs….so yardage wise he certainly thrived behind Philly’s OL.
Agree to disagree then. A thousand yards isn’t thriving to me, especially behind that line. (The list of players who’ve played a full season and rushed for between 1000-1100 yards is an exercise in meh - even more so now that they play 17 games). And Monty and Swift had to split time with each other, while Swift had something called a Gainwell and Boston Scott behind him. Yes he lost TDs to Hurts, but not yards. He just got pulled for missing blocks and running lanes, trying to bounce everything outside, and just generally being a frustrating guy (because I agree, the talent is there). He had a couple of spike games, but his consistency was awful (only 30 yards receiving over the last 7 weeks).

This we certainly can agree on and I will add that Sirianni is kind of a prick
To reinforce your point:
37 carries for 68 yards 1.8 ypc in the first 3 games (and, he’s the leading rusher for the Bears).
But, he does have 6 receptions for 46 yards, 7.7 ypr, so he’s got that going for him.
The ides and excitement of March:
HC Matt Eberflus: Bears moved quick to sign ‘weapon back’ D’Andre Swift

Saw the both RBs do unique things yesterday and loved it. Monty’s toughness was unrivaled and Gibbs on the Hook and Ladder used his speed and balance. I still feel like Gibbs takes one hesitation too many on his inside runs but makes up for it with body control and speed.
These two are great for wearing down a defense. I just hope we keep using them the way we did against Arizona.
I think he’s thinking too hard and trying to set up his blocks but I’ve noticed it too. He hesitates at times instead of hitting the hole with authority.
My understanding is that running inside is pretty new to him. He is use to hitting the outside corners.
I’m surprised that people still think Swift is particularly good at football. IMO he’s a replacement level starting running back which is of course quite good compared to me but the contract Poles handed him was a silly miscalculation and NFL teams should aspire to do better than Swift back there.
Swift is very talented.
I do not think he loves the game.
I for one am happy to live in a world where it’s not the Lions overpaying underperforming Lions players.
When he was with the Lions didn’t Duce Staley allude to Swift having a bunch of talent but no heart.
Swift is a more finesse than power back, he’s not going to do well on bad teams. I don’t think he’s all that special, but he was good playing behind the Lions line.
Staley said he has the talent to be the best in the NFL if he wants it.
He’s physically talented, but he’s terrible at reading holes, he doesn’t follow his blockers, and he’s soft. None of that is true of truly talented running backs.
Yep. IMO on a 1 to 100 scale Swift is probably around a 20 both in terms of vision and toughness and that’s a rough combo for a RB.
Swift is the Michael Cera of RBs
In a nice ensemble, he adds to the show, in a limited, narrow, 1 trick pony way.
Him as a starring contributor?
Box office debacle.
Does Swift yell at staff like a total brat?
That sounds an awful lot like Donovan Edwards
