Moves for Sunday and Manu to IR

This is a matchup to watch, Passing vs Play Action

The Chiefs rank DEAD LAST in defense against PA pass. The Lions are the number one team in the NFL as an offense.

Furthermore, Kansas City is allowing 123.4 yards per game on the ground. Sonic, and Knuckles get going, opens up pass game this is something I talked about on the podcast last night!

The Lions should move the ball pretty well. Defense needs some stops, maybe a turnover or 2.

Why? Devin Cochran has been on the practice squad since early September and Skipper has been a Lion since the OJ chase. He at least knows the system and his assignments, which can go a long way for an emergency starter.

He has also been cut more times than OJs victims and no other team in the NFL ever claims him.

No one is speaking of the biggest news from these transactions.

The lack of TA to IR.

This indicates the report that Terrion could be back practicing by the end of the month is holding.

I expected a 4 week absence minimum.

The problem with placing a player on IR is not being able to practice.

Making a player placed on IR out 5 or more likely 6 weeks minimum in reality.

Whether Manu’s injury is serious or not, placing him on IR is best for the team.

After Manu ‘s performance he was going to be the 5th OT’ 4th at best, and can only play on the left. With all the injuries the Lions can’t afford to carry him on the 53. Holmes has too much invested to risk losing him on the Practice Squad so IR is best.

Not being able to practice for a month will stunt his growth but it is about now.

If the injury situation improves and they can spare the roster spot and IR recall, then Manu can be brought back to practice.

I’m disappointed in the injuries because I was excited to see Alim back.

He is ready to go but I think the team needed the roster spot and he doesn’t count yet.

Alim would only be able to do 20 or so reps and probably no Special Teams.

The Lions will be short on the active list this week and need the extra DB’S up in case Branch or Kerby can’t start or finish the game.

Players on 53 that are out:

Decker

TA

Maddox

Vaki

Cunningham

Then there are questionable players like: Raymond, Branch, and Kerby.

Then there is Wingo who is not playing well but on the roster.

Dan may end up playing 45 or fewer players.

All those that are active (except backup QB) will need to play and contribute.

Manu too green (keep telling yourself that) and Skipper isn’t it. It is almost like we don’t have a serviceable option for a swing tackle…hmm. This has been my contention for two years now. What happens when/if Decker or Sewell go down.

Wish we had some 3rd round picks and we could trade for a legit swing tackle to back-up.

Fingers crossed today, Skipper filled in admirable last year, hoping he can do the same today.

Well Decker missed time last year and we were 15 -2 so there that. The answer is there, but you seem to be waiting for failure to say you were right .

I think another factor in whether or not to IR someone is not only how long they’ll be out, but you only get 8 back during the regular season. Two for sure are Reed and Davenport. Have to expect more as games go on unfortunately. Decker was already not practicing and it’s highly unlikely Arnold is back practicing next week and then we have the bye. Cunningham is approaching 4 weeks as is Vaki.

My opinion is that anyone close to that 4 week window (who are expected to play key roles), they’re trying not to IR if they can get away with it.

Exactly.

That’s why I think it is a long shot that Manu is brought back this season.
Most of the IR Returns are for starters or players with significant roles.

Reed & Davenport are locks for return if they recover fully.

Dorsey has a chance, and even Zylstra before Manu.

to the men that got put back out: ffffffffffffffffffffffffff

FAK!!!

What am I missing on this one Wolf?

well it was said that we could -have Skipper back for this game-but he’s out, not only is he out, there are a handful more….my reaction to that was FAK. Decker not Skipper.

Actually, I just want a capable back-up for moments exactly like we are in? How is that rooting for something bad to happen?

Huge upgrade is right.
