- Wonnum was a massive signing
- nice to see Levi pick up the slack for an on the mend Tyleik
- Thought Abney played well
- We seemed rusty initially with some off our man coverage technique but caught our stride
- Zone is still an adventure
- St. seems to be in a slump relative to his usual high standard
- More Vaki please. Especially when up that much
- LaPorta extension needs to get done
- As many here suggested we’re meant to be a man heavy team
- Blake Miller is indeed a rookie
- That McBride catch is one of the greatest sideline toe tap catches I’ve ever seen. He’s going to end up in Canton provided good health
- Brissett is supposed to be a backup and you can tell
- Rodrigo and Jack were much better in coverage today IMO
- Alim is playing like an All Pro. Aidan as well of course
- We realized that Jamo’s verts should be corners or posts
- Rallis’ scheme is complicated and has us confused. Great job adjusting
- That crew really let us play which I don’t hate tbh
- Brock Wright is just okay blocking inline but I really like him on the move
- Gibbs’ pass pro much improved two weeks in a row
- Goff is playing his best football as a Lion (or 2024 coin flip)
- We play defense like that every week and we win 12 to 13 games with this offense
- My heart sank on TK’s energy. A guy hangs around on the fringe for years and seems like he might be carving out a regular gig for a year or two and in a blink that may be over
- Great coverage units against a solid, experienced return man
- Tay Martin is pretty damn elite on ST
- Feel really good about our kicking game
- significant improvement from and discipline standpoint.
I agree on almost everything… Can’t get behind Brock Wrong tho, I want an upgrade at TE2, especially for how much Brock is making
Laporta is back baby… Really hope they’re able to work out a contract.
I didn’t notice Levi other than the roughing the passer
Idk if there’s anyone on the roster that I want returning punts… May have to look outside, poach someone on a PS… Xavier Smith perhaps?
He’s a fine number 2. I think blocking on the move is what he does best. I suspect that is why Shanny wanted him. Inline is iffy but there are like five to seven NFL TEs that are beast inline.
I think our PR is coming from off our current active 53.
I was at the game and agree with a lot of what you said.
I will add, as I’ve said before, if you’re 75 or younger, Goff is the best qb you’ve ever seen in a Lions uniform.
Every time I see him in motion behind the line, he misses the block… It’s infuriating
Who do you think and why didn’t they field them today?
Sorry I mean our replacement for TK is going to be someone in free agency. I think there are enough guys that can come in and do that for us. I hope we get TK back.
I thought he was really physical in the run game. That is what he does best after all of the injuries IMO.
That is my expectation. Sadly Charlie Jones was signed to their active roster a couple weeks ago.
Crazy vert at least 15 inches
At least double Laimbeer’s vert.
I want to be there, but I’m not.
I’m still in the Stafford is the best QB I’ve ever seen in a Lions uniform camp. Goff is a VERY close #2 though.
Stafford never really had a running game or elite receivers outside of Megatron and Tate.
Brock is fine blocking DBs on the move but so is Jamo, Saint, and TesLaa. I would much rather have a TE that can pick off a LB or DE. I would say watch him against Green Bay and Minnesota. They know he is weak and they will exploit him if he is on the field. He is not the guy you want crashing in to make the wham blocks but we still ask him to do it. Maybe it will be different with the new OC.
Yeah, I agree. Flores especially seems to target him. We need to use him like a FB strictly.
If I recall he had a beautiful block on Devin Loyd last week if I recall correctly. I think a wham is often as much about catching the DT by surprise as it is about sheer strength. The TE is usually giving up 65 pounds. What I do know is Dan knows TEs and loves the guy. Ben coached TEs and spoke highly of him. Shanny has a TE fetish and thought enough of him to try and snipe him as a RFA. That’s enough for me. Three guys that have forgotten more about the TE position than I will ever know all seemed to think he was a valuable TE2.
Wasn’t Brock out for the end of year debacle? Perhaps he’s actually an asset against Flores. Our one awful performance against a Flores D was without him. In five games against Flores led Vikes defenses with Brock we have average 29 points per game. Ten in the one without him. Same is true with Sam but that is clearly a coincidence. It’s all Brock. ![]()
IMO he’s one of those good clumsy athletes. We all played with them. Test well but not particularly coordinated. He absolutely has limitations but it’s also a tougher mold of TE to replace than people want to admit.
I actually think it was more pre-2025, back when the rest of our line was much harder to fool, it was one of his primary attack vectors iirc. It wasn’t just him, our TEs in general including Sam.
And we reliably scored thirty which nobody else does. I think people forget how well we match up with that offense bc of how ugly the short handed X-mas debacle was.
I also think if hasn’t been talked about enough how much tighter our screen game looks under Drew. He really seems to have a knack for it. That was IMO something that Ben didn’t coach great.
Brock is fine. He’s not awesome by any means but it’s just a tricky skillset. I’d love a Jackson Hawes type as a number three but I think Dan wants more juice than that out of our TE2.
I’ve always said that LaPorta is a huge key to unlocking this offense’s potential, they aren’t nearly the same when he’s out or hobbled. I think he was playing cautiously the first 3 games but I’ve seen some of the old LaPorta the last 2 games. I still worry about injury because his body has sustained a few serious ones the last few years and he plays such a physical brand of football but I think he’s a must re-sign.
Also, very much agree that Vaki should get more carries. Gibbs is amazing of course but they’re going to need somebody to alleviate some of the load from him when they start playing tougher opponents and when they start nearing the playoff grind. Vaki always seems to fall forward, straight north south running that would compliment Gibbs well.
I understand. I loved Stafford and knew he was Super Bowl material but they never put a team together.
That said, even at his best, he had a lot more inconsistency and accuracy issues than Goff does.
He was the absolute prototype for a beautiful throwing motion and perfect spiral while Goff doesn’t look as athletic and throws some ducks but man, he is MONEY.
I love watching him play and he wins, which Stafford could never do (again, not blaming him for that)
