Great OP, but snap counts showed Levi only played 16 snaps while Tyleik still played about half. Levi didn’t necessarily look great yesterday, imo.
Don’t ignore my next statement… I’d rather draft a TE every year and have them cheap for 4 years than pay a mediocre Block Wrong more than a 2nd round TE
I’d be happy with Luke Lindenmeyer. I just want a TE that can add something to a downhill running game. I really don’t care if he is labeled as TE 1,2,3 or 4. The extra OT does not make the defense respect the pass option that even a marginal TE does. I don’t believe the Lions value such a TE for whatever reason. I don’t see a Jackson Hawes type TE in our future but more of a dual threat like Dawson Knox I can see.

Yep. I saw Justin’s post as well. After my post of course. I noticed him on several snaps in the second half and thought he was a presence in the run game. He had averaged 17% of snaps over the last three weeks and was up to 22% so a modest uptick.

“Great”? I don’t think he played great. What I said was, “nice to see Levi pick up the slack for an on the mend Tyleik”. I did think it was on more volume (and more rest for Tyleik) than it ended up being but my impression of his play was mostly positive. The personal foul was unfortunate but it felt like he was trying to avoid it but his body weight had already been committed. He’s a big strong dude and I think he can help us in the run game. I’d prefer he be our jumbo base end option over Lacy TBH. But if you see it otherwise that is fine. It’s hardly like I was focusing on Levi. He just jumped out to me on a few run plays.
I’d be happy with Luke Lindenmeyer.
He gets bullied as a run blocker at times IMO.
I hear you. I’m happy for the guy that he’s playing again.

Which is interesting considering who our coach is. You have to think he would know best ![]()
We played AZ
We should have looked better
Yep, but, 21 points is better than it’s been. I’d like to see that drop another 3 or 4 points.
Lord, help me. I have hope. I think the Defense is on the verge of gelling. All they have to do is get to top 20, and, we can make a season of it.

No sir
Teams better than the Lions have played them and didn’t make them look like that.
Especially on defense
No?
Goff is not the best QB that has worn a Lions uniform. Now its ok if people believe that’s true, but its certainly not a fact as you suggested it is.
If he wins a SB here, I too give him that title. But until then, Matt Stafford is the best QB in franchise history. That being said, there is no scenario that Jared Goff surpasses Matt in the all-time great talks. But that is just my opinion of course…i guess

While i dont inherently disagree with you that Stafford was a better QB here, at least talent wise, compared to Goff… i will say i feel like this is a weird bar saying that Goff only passes him if he wins a SB, which Stafford also wasnt able to do here?
If we are saying winning is the bar than i feel you should believe that Goff is better given the 2 to 0 on playoff wins as Detroit QBs and the better regular season record as a Lions QB belongs to Goff.
With all that i do still believe Stafford was the better QB just find the winning percentages or playoff performances dont really align with that thought process.
It’s not the bar. But in order for a QB who isn’t as good as Matt Stafford to be crowned the best, hes going to have to doing something really significant to get that title.
Goff’s situation doesnt just dwarf what Stafford had to go through here in Detroit, its better than 98% of what QBs all-time get to be apart of. I am saying statistics and accomplishments aren’t the only metric here. Stafford is a better QB than Jared is. IMO thats just a fact. So in order for Goff to be given the title of best QB in franchise history, a SB is what its going to take. They shouldn’t be graded on an apples to apples scale. I know you know what I am talking about. Even if you dont agree…and thats ok!
Your bar, which you just reconfirmed, is “Goff cant surpass Stafford without a SB”. I disagree despite my alignment with you that Stafford was the better Lions QB so far. I just believe that there are numerous things that an almost 32 year old Goff can do to surpass Stafford as an all time LION qb.
Sure that’s my bar then, I think it makes perfect sense but obviously all won’t agree. Goff has been here under ideal circumstances from the get go. Yeah, they were a team in total rebuild. But he was apart of everything they did. He’s played with the best coach and OC in franchise history. That’s who hes gotten to work with (not to mention the offenses player pool). The culture from top to bottom has been top notch. If you want to ignore all that and compare the two QBs based on Ws and statistics go ahead. But i feel one guy had a severe handicap while the other has been in an ideal situation for the majority of his career.
Sure and like i said that is why i agree with you that Stafford is the better Lions QB so far.
Now if goff brings us 3 more division titles and our first SB appearance, plus continues his high efficiency metrics and keeps us consistently in the top 5 offenses.
I probably move him up to number 1. Maybe even less than that, obviously i am unhappy without a SB win just not willing to agree that his performance in one future game is the difference between him being able to be the all time great or not.
Like i said you are free to have that opinion, i agree that Stafford is currently number 1, i just see other potential outcomes where i would still place Goff higher. Right now he isnt simply because like you said he has had a better situation. Lets also not assume that he isnt a substantial reason for why it has been better.
Well Goff is going to accomplish pretty much all of that. He’s going to win more division titles and hes going to have more top 5 offenses. He has arguably the best RB, best WR duo, Top 10 TE, and his tackle duo in place for the remainder of his career. So it looks like its just a matter of time before hes on top for you. Again, its not comparing apples to apples but you are willing to overlook that part. Also, again, theres no problem with that. I am just not going to personally.
Goff did get further into the playoffs than Stafford ever did as a Lion.
