This is just so confusing.
Here’s the thing. To get to about $20M in cap space, we’d need to renounce ALL of our FAs. That includes Tobias Harris most notably. It also means we probably decline the team option on Duncan Robinson.
There are really no good PFs in free agency. Sorry. John Collins is a TERRIBLE defender, and he’s probably the best there is.
So if you want to essentially trade Isaiah Stewart, Tobias Harris, and Duncan Robinson for a 30 something year old Norman Powell then that’s just terrible asset management.
Who starts at power forward on that team? Who comes off the bench for that team??

It’s only so bad if we acquire crap. We have to look at this as Stew for whomever we get and moving up 4 spots. Could be good or bad.
But it’s not just Isaiah Stewart that would have to go for us to become a cap space team. That’s what I’m trying to say.
This move in a vacuum does not give us cap space for Norman Powell. In fact, it doesn’t give us any cap space I’m pretty sure.

I remember lots of people screaming for Paul Reed to get more minutes during the playoffs. Well, there you go.
Also, dumping Stew is kinda like when they got rid of Mahorn right before the first championship. So look for Beef Stew to be repping Cure auto insurance and yukking it up with a 120 year old George Blaha in 20 years or so.

Last 20 games of the regular season. I know you guys loved Beef Stew but Paul Reed was a better player and is owed about $10M less next season.
- Isaiah Stewart: 5.6 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.1 BPG
- Paul Reed: 9.3 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 0.9 BPG

The guy averaged 21 points per game. So yeah, the 33 year old could make us a contender.

I dont agree. He had a great year. I dont think it makes the pistons better at all
