Giannis is officially on the block. Detroit has been named as one of the few teams that have a clear path to aquire him.
ESPN is reporting that The Bucks want a young blue chip player and/or multiple draft picks in return.
What say you?

Giannis is going to the Dodgers
Would love to find a way to get him but it would be tough
Ivey, Holland, 3 first round picks, and a bunch of second round picks,?
Too much? Not enough?
I think its just enough. They would trade another player as well. I see him going to the rockers or LAL
The money doesn’t work, Tobias and Lavert would have to be included
I was thinking about the money after I made the original post. I quit trying to figure out how the NBA’s salary cap works a long time ago. It’s confusing as fuk to me.
Also I would have no problem at all including those two guys.
I would love to keep Harris. Perfect off the bench. But he would need to be traded to make it work.
Harris/Lavert/Ivey/Holland/Sasser for Giannis/Harris/Sims/Brother #2 there will have to be draft picks but that works money wise
Duren/Reed
Giannis/Stewart
Ausar/Green
Robinson/Harris
Cade/Daniss
Sims/Lanier/Bobi/Tolu for bench
No, no, no and a serious HELL no!!!
Cade is the straw that stirs the drink. We don’t need another guy that can shoot.
I don’t think the Pistons have to make a move at all. Cade is a star and Duren is also fantastic. Assar is a great defensive piece. Duncan is better than Beasley. Duncan CAN shoot. Tobias is a fantastic post guy/bucket guy in key moments. The bench is solid and deep with Ivey, Beef Stew, Holland, J. Green and LeVert/Jenkins/Sasser with a more-than-capable Paul Reed in the mix.
If there is a trade it should be for Lauri M.from the Jazz. That will likely cost us Aussar. I think I make that deal but we get worse on D but much better on O. Aussar can also bring the ball up.
They clearly need to add someone who’s another reliable shooter from 3.
I’d do the above mentioned Ivey, Holland, and three 1sts for Giannis, but that’s the only player in the whole league that I’m trading more than one 1st for. That includes Markkanen.
That said, I am VERY ok if they decide not to pursue Giannis. Teams in the NBA kill themselves by crippling their future for a season and a half of a player before he asks to be traded again.
If the Pistons traded Aussar Thompson for Lauri Markkanen we start Cade, Jaden Ivey, Harris as a SF, Lauri at PF and Duren at Center.
Duncan moves to the bench as SG, LeVert/Jenkins at backup PG, Ron Holland as SF, Janine Green as back up PF AND Beef Stew back up C WITH Paul Reed there too. Yep, THAT works for me.
The biggest and best argument that I’ve seen for the Pistons to make a trade this year is that, if Tobias walks in free agency, we essentially lose his cap space since we’ll have to pay Duren this offseason. But, if we trade Tobias for someone with a longer deal, we get to extend Duren and keep the Tobias money.
Of course, that means nothing if we decide to just re-sign Tobias this offseason, but a lot of people don’t think that’s likely.
Another deferred contract I’m guessing…
This is why I stopped trying to figure out the NBA cap.
I’m content with letting you smart, young, whipper snappers figure that shit out for me.
Thanks for that info btw.
That’s why Tobias is included in so many of these hypothetical deals, is to make the money work. Both for the other team and for us.
Obviously it’s more complicated than this but the basic concept is that “Bird Rights” (named for Larry Bird) allow you to go over the cap to resign your own players.
Tobias for MPJ would be a very big upgrade imo
or Trey Murphy but Pelicans apparently want a Desmond Bane like Trade (so 4 FRP)
Joe Dumars lmaoooooooo
Malik monk? Might be cost us nothing
That got an actual belly laugh out of me.
