Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think that, if Tobias leaves, we’ll have to use our actual “cap space” to resign Duren, which means we can’t go over the cap to sign someone else. But, if we have money on the books for some player (Giannis, Porter, etc.) then we can use money over the cap to resign Duren.

Monk would not be terrible at all, but his Defense… yeah not great.

we also have Bird Rights too, so regardless i think we can re-sign him but yeah if Tobias isnt traded, i think it locks up our money pretty much for the foreseeable future

I know. What I meant is that, if we don’t trade Tobias and just let him walk, we can’t really replace him with anything if we pay Duren.
You can go over the salary cap to resign your own guys, but it still counts against your open cap space if you have any until it can’t anymore.

He’s only 31 so realistically you would get 3 or so years of his prime.
He has had a lot of calf strains lately though and that definitely needs to be considered.
1-5 years left in the tank. Pistons get him their heavy favorites for a few years
