NCAA CBB portal update; Indiana style

The other issue is that the schools, as the real powers in college football, would have to agree to allow it. I don’t think they would, since they’re the ones who stripped the power from the NCAA in the first place.

Jace howard enters the portal talk…lol. Maryland lost 3 guys . Portal needs open up a week after the championship. Teams in the tournament the deeper they get less they are going to have contact or what their roster will look like next year.

Well, the crown jewel for the NCAA is the March Madness tournament where they make their money.
If the SEC/B1G and other leagues can figure out how to garner control of that, the NCAA will be dead.

I have heard - and don’t quote me on this, it’s secondhand - that the schools threw the NCAA a bone when they allowed them to keep the basketball tourney in the early days of change to the balance of power.

Also the schools themselves had no interest in overseeing or scheduling volleyball or soccer or any of the other non-money-makers that the NCAA handles, so it was a good way to get them their operating expenses for the year.

But if the money starts to get too big, you can bet your ass the schools will take it back. All they have to do is say no to the NCAA tourney invite and opt instead for one of the private tourneys like this one that started this year:

I think they need to restrict the transfer portal limits. 1 transfer before graduation and 1 transfer after graduation.

As far as NIL I think it should be a Pro-Rated

Example

Tommy Jones got a NIL deal with MSU for 2 Million(500K per year) Tommy after 2 years enters the transfer portal. All the teams in the transfer portal can offer him up to 1 million dollars over 2 years. He goes to Louisville and leaves after 1 year for the NBA well he collected 250k from Louisville and collected 750k total between MSU and Louisville. If Tommy left after 1 year at MSU he would only bank 250k.

I think putting the year wait back in would do wonders for it; easy fix, already been done. But why would the big schools - the ones with all the power - agree to it? They’re the ones benefitting the most. It’s all over this basketball tourney. Why would they agree to transfer portal limits? All this is doing is further separating them from the ACC and Big 12, and without having to play the bad guy anymore! It’ll just happen “naturally.”

He is a turnover machine as well. So fits right in

Move makes zero sense unless Donaldson is leaving

Depends what he was promised, you are correct in some ways it doesn’t make sense. And, he does fit in with the turnovers,

I wonder if they both play cg a lot

Total brain fart…cg=??guard

Combo guard. Kinda like what fears and Holloman did. Both were on the court a ton.

Thank you.
Had point guard and scoring guard but forgot about Combo.
They have the highly rated guard coming in as well, although I think he is more a sg.

He will play both. Probably more 2-3 this year

The recruit or the transfer?
Remember they also have Cason at the guard spot, kid was improving.

The recruit. Cason probably would be the odd man out. I still think either him or Donaldson leave. Still got that Gayle guy, so some body is either not playing or a transfer

Cason leaving would surprise me, not saying you are wrong, but him leaving doesn’t make sense in my mind.
On flip side perhaps you are right and it’s why May spoke publicly about his mistake of not playing Cason more. Yet, Cason was FAU May recruit who followed him to UM and got more playing time late, and delivered.

There are some rumors about Gayle which wouldn’t upset me too much. Whole new world.

So maybe someone can explain something for me. NIL = Name, Image, Likeness. To me that’s completely different than players being salaried employees of a univeraity being paid by that institution for playing a sport for that school.

How can the NCAA restrict a person / player from making any amount of money they can from their Name, Image, Likeness? If they did try to do that wouldn’t it end up back in the courts?

It seems some are not taking what’s legally allowed and what’s not legally allowed into consideration.

To me…

Restricting NIL = Not legal
Capping salaries paid by the school = Legal
Restricting movement, transfer = ?

Yeah some body is going. Wolfe could leave for the nba seen a few mocks early 2nd to mid, but i think he stays

Msu probably loses booker, but i the rest stay. Msu would be two short kf scholarships. They need a few things if Jase Richardson does indeed leave. One they need a deep threat 3 point shooter, could that we Teng who was actually higher rated commit over Richardson. Then they need a SF who can shot , but can drive and would be the starter. Big is a need , but Ward in coming fr, carr who seems to play better at the 4. Cooper, Kohler, and McCulloch who red shirter. But copper, and Kohler are gone next. Plus Booker might return as well.
