New Star Wars

The New Star Wars, Mandalorian & The Grogu.
I just seen it 5/22/26- good movie/solid, yet I like A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi, better-mostly because I grew up on that… I did like this one -more than I thought, and while it’s good- I think the older ones had better characters, a better story line, and were more exciting-on top of that -because Sigourney Weaver is in this, it made it a little “cheesey”

Is it a continuation off of the show or is it a stand alone movie?

More star wars. Its becoming pumpkin spice in the fall time.

It’s a little of both, with a few old ships, characters, droids, but all new story.

Appreciate it. I fell off with the show somewhere along the way so I’ll finish it up before I check it out.

I thought it was OK. I liked the series better

Since the first three releases, it just hasn’t been the same for me

I really like certain things about many of them, but I trailed off of it to and hadn’t seen a Star Wars movie for decades before tonight. I couldn’t tell you the order of each film without Google and writing it all down, first.

The first 2 seasons of the show were good. I think as soon as Disney took more interest in the show they ruined it like Disney always does. Luckily they left Andor alone.

Do you know that George Lucas got the idea for Chewbacca, from a bigfoot-not literally, but the idea of that character.

The first two seasons were good because they let favreau do what he does. The third season Kathleen Kennedy got involved.

Grogu might have been the Mandalorian’s downfall. Grogu was a fantastic character hilarious little fella. But he appealed to kids and that got the attention of the Disney bigwigs. And that was bad news.

George Lucas got the idea for Chewbacca because his dog, Indiana (also the inspiration for the name Indiana Jones) was riding in his passenger seat as his “co-pilot”:

“I had an Alaskan Malamute when I was writing Star Wars. A very sweet dog, she would always sit next to me when I was writing. And when I’d drive around, she’d sit in the front seat… Having her with me all the time inspired me to give Han Solo a sidekick who was like a big, furry dog. Not quite like a dog, but intelligent.” -George Lucas

Chewbacca’s appearance was based off of a George R.R. Martin creation, the Jaenshi, a furry race of humanoids:

John Shoenherr made an illustration for GRRM’s “And Seven Times Never Kill A Man” and then Ralph McQuarrie was “inspired” by it right down to Chewie’s Bowcaster.

Big Foot was never an inspiration for Chewbacca. We know you’re a paid shill for Big Bigfoot, but we’re not falling for your propaganda here, bud.

Thank God she’s no longer part of Lucasfilm. I have zero faith Disney can course correct, but at least there’s hope.

Disney Star Wars has mostly been ass. Outside of Rogue One, Andor, and the first couple seasons of Mando, it’s been really hard to watch anything Disney has done in the live-action realm.

Anyways, to stay on topic: I haven’t watched this yet. I probably won’t in theaters. I’ll wait to watch it at home. I don’t have any high expectations and I’ve heard mixed stuff from friends that I trust - some like it, some don’t.

I’ll go in expecting what I expect out of Disney - slop. And will be pleasantly surprised if I get anything more out of it.

Ah, MAYBE that’s why I put it in “Off-Topic”

Yes, I have always maintained that Chewbacca was the bloodline of Big Foot.
