NFC North notes: Jonah Jackson

Big difference, Hartings didn’t love it here.

I would pay him…. 12M per yes… 15M…no

Next year is 3.5M regardless… yr one could be 8m on new deal?

We move on from Big V this year and his dead cap is like 4M, plus a 2nd round replacement of 1.8M- so RG will cost nearly 6M….

So we save 4M at RG next year, but Jackson’s cap figure goes up 4-5M… not too bad.

Then in 25’ Decker is gone and his 20M cap hit leaves….

In 24-25 we draft a new OT for 3-4M per… Sewell is reasonable in price for 4 more years. Yr one of big extensions are typically cheap.

I’d pay him

Hartings never made a pro bowl as a OG.

.

Damian Woody and Stephen Peterman are all we need.

Yet they struggled like hell to replace him.

Shit, they were still struggling to find a serviceable guard until they got Larry Warford more than a decade later.

Just please, if you have a good player, pay the man

Matt Millen was the GM…

they struggled to draft any good players. :man_shrugging:

Millen hasn’t been the gm since 2008, yet they haven’t been able to run up the middle until the last two seasons

I swear to god, you people act like we’re in a decadent period

Edit…. I read that totally wrong….

Thank You Deck, Sewell & Rags. When you have the inside and outside outpowered, most power backs score from 2 yards in.

I don’t understand the gif. Before 2021 the average run up the middle was for -1 yards

Please don’t be so dull that you can’t remember the JB Cooter years.

Seriously; I’m out until free agency is over. You guys can talk about how to (((redacted))) the guys you root for every sunday without me.

I swear to god

Well its been reported that cap will go up by about 40 million between 2023 an 2024. How it breaks down we will not know till the set cap number in spring.

We can have that many we should draft one early in round 2 an rework if they keep big V.

You do always have to have high priced OL but when you got to end players why wouldn’t you pay them ???

Some on here are like past Lions try to be cheap an then blow all you have in cap room on a guy ready to retire. We all can put names to those players an we just unloaded in past two season about 60 million worth an now some want to pay a CB almost 20 mil who will be 28 in fall. We tried those ideas for a long time it didn’t work.

For OL we are at point we can draft one next two drafts an maybe get lucky an find a UDFA They will learn being are back ups .Some one talked about Rags foot well why not draft the C\OG John Michael Schmitz in rd two an he can step in if big V doesn’t want to rework.

The draft OL guy will not be pricey they could rework Rags deal an if his toe acts up let the rookie work at Center. Next season in 2024 we will have lots of room for Jackson an we will not have huge deal for a guy playing CB who many want for over 17 mil a year.

I think some lion fans are still not getting what new management are doing an without Cap hell. Thats what winning teams do. They build without over paying for older players an they keep the ones they drafted who work out an will add to fill a hole.

I sometimes wonder as fans do some really care or just enjoy bitching :grinning:
