As long a that humongous financial collapse doesn’t occur :worried:

Lions needed it at 315 to have even a penny spend (without the funny business of course). Trades and draft will be only hopes of significant upgrades.

Don’t think it’s that detrimental. The entire NFC North is projected to be over the cap. The Lions will find ways to restructure and be okay.

So lions should have cap. Go all out

They purposely structured Goff and Penei’s deals the way they did to restructure them this offseason

Every team does the “funny business”….

and Lions are in much better shape than teams like the Eagles or 49ers… in terms of void tears.

How much do you reckon these restructures and retirements could free up? 70M? They need nfl starter level FAs at OC, OG, S, DE, RB (pounder), possibly DT.

Am I one of the ones who believes K Joseph’s career is over.

I sure â– â– â– â– â– â– â–  hope not. But I have serious concerns about him being able to mange a 17 game season. And with Branch seriously injured I think safety is one of the biggest needs on the roster

They definitely aren’t getting starts in free agency at all of those positions.

I’d be shocked if they signed more than 2 of positions to “starter” type money.

They could free up $70 million if they wanted to do so… but I wouldn’t expect that is the plan.

Restructuring Goff and Sewell.

GG Cut/ Retired

Decker retired (post June 1st)

Moves ALONE!

AFTER signing draft picks.

AND leaving $15m for in season moves:

The Lions would have OVER $75m left!!

Sewell and Goff restructure is 100% happening, every big team does that now,

the decker and GG is questionable. But likely

And $75m is MOOORE than enough to sign 3 GOOOD starters

Kerby and Branch will be on the secret sauce AKA PEDs.

I think Kerby is fine next year but probably doesn’t play longer than 3 or 4 years.

Just the Lion’s luck…we get an Ed Reed type ball hawk and he suffers a catastrophic injury early in his career. One good thing is Brad seems adept at finding good safeties in the draft.

Yeah, that one hurts. Looked like we had the position sorted as well as any team in recent league history one offseason, only to be completely unsettled the next. Football gods really fisted us on this one.

Decker has a $14.9M salary with a $3.15M bonus hit for 2026. He has a $3.15M bonus hit in 2027 and 2028. “Post June 1st” means we have to carry the players salary until June 2nd whether it is a real June 1st move or a designation. In Decker’s case it means carrying $14.9M of salary until June 2nd to avoid a $6.30M bonus acceleration. I would rather have Decker’s status removed from the books immediately. It gives us $8.6M more dollars to work with in free agency and it clears $6.30M next year vs a June 1st move.

MOST teams typically keep 10-15m in space going into the season for elevations and trade deadline moves. Think of decker being that 10-15m in savings. So the lions could spend down to $0 left in FA. Then cut decker post june 1st. And keep that money for the trade deadline.
