NFL Offensive & Defensive Rankings through week 7

If GB gets the #1 seed then that means we are road dawgs. I’m great with that actually. Always play better as the underdog.

Plus we could get a rematch of GB in the playoffs , knocking their ass out at home would be the best win of my lifetime. Until the Super Bowl

GB
Philly
SF —- I still think they have the Rams/Seahawks #
TB

Seattle would be a menace to either GB or Philly as well

GB has been the top seed like 20 times since Favre got there and they always choke it away. Usually to SF or NYG, but it’ll happen against us now too, guaranteed. We’re tougher, they’re soft.

Man do I feel better after talking to you today

Thanks :folded_hands:t4:

As long as we stay relatively healthy, I’m pretty sure our main NFC competition is Philly and LAR. Maybe Tampa too, forgot about them. But they would have to be at full health (Evans back and everything) and we would need to be a little banged up imo.

Well it’s nice we can talk shit about the Packers ( I hate them), BUT…
They did win a SB in 2010 with 16 on IR including 7 starters

Lions, we blew a 17 point lead in the 2nd half, then the next year got blown out in the Divisional game ( I know injuries).
But until we do something, it’s hard to talk shit about a team choking that has a SB ring in the last 15 years

Yep, they won twice in all that time. That’s why I say it’s important just to make the tourney and let the cards fall where they may. Sometimes mentally soft teams can even win it if the matchups and luck fall your way.

And yeah, it was our annual Super Bowl to see just how the Packers were gonna blow it. So what? No one denies were were a trash team for 40 years.

And for the record, it was 6 starters, 3 on offense and 3 on defense. A far, far cry from what we went through last year.

Yea I get it. I honestly think the Packers lose 4 more games this year and we win the division. But, I want to have us in the playoffs consistently before trying to point out another teams lack of success in the playoffs.

That’s just me

BTW, I am one that think the Packers are very good team IF the opposing defense can’t get pressure and you can’t get Love uncomfortable. I know that is true for most QB’s , but I think it is doubly so for Love.

Ok enough of me babbling

I think Jordan Love is the luckiest QB in the world. He makes almost twice as many turnover-worthy plays as any other QB, but rarely has to suffer the turnover. Just think about our game… hits Anzalone in the hands and he drops it, then throws a pick-6 to Branch that gets called back. That sort of luck happens to him all the time. There are some 4 and 5 picks games in his future as his fortune regresses to the mean.

And that’s the style of QB play that loses WTF games in the playoffs.

I agree, 80-90% of the time he plays like that.
It’s the other 10-20% when he looks all pro that could carry them on a hot streak

Like you have posted many times, get in the tourney, get hot and a little luck

Edit: Oh and to your point, last nights game he throws up 2 prayers (Floaters, one across the field) and the Steelers somehow let the receivers catch them

The one he was about to be sacked and just chucked it in the air towards the sideline. Maybe trying to throw it out of bounds? Well Tucker Kraft just shoved the Steeler DB out of the way an. d snatched the duck out of the air. He then proceeded to just truck everyone in their secondary just daring them to try and tackle him. Kraft turned it into about a 60 yard gain but it certainly padded the stats of Love.

Week 8 chart

Yay!

Observations:

  • Saints and Jets traded places
  • Pats and Niners traded places
  • Of the “average” teams:
    • Only Philly and Chargers moved in the right direction
    • Tampa, Chicago, Steelers, Commies, Cards, Panthers, Falcons, Giants and Bears stepped back
  • KC, Buffalo, Chargers, Colts, and Denver all moved into the “good” quadrant
  • Pats and Eagles are poised to join them

Per the chart, these should be your playoff teams:

  • The Contenders: Lions, Rams, Pack, Chiefs
  • The Challengers: Broncos, Seahawks, Bills, Colts, and Chargers
  • Got a Chancers: Eagles, Pats, Texans, Bucs, Jags

These are your bad teams:

  • The Pretenders: Cards, Bears, Commies, Panthers, Falcons, Steelers
  • The (Deeply) Flawed: Cowboys, Browns, Niners, Ravens, Jets
  • Mega Ass: Bengals, Vikes, Saints, Giants, Raiders, Titans, Fins

It’s starting to look like reality. Biggest surprise is how well the Jets are rated.

Saw a stat last night ,

Chiefs have 8 fumbles on the year

And they recovered all of them. 0 lost.

Something’s gotta give eventually

The Packers are Top 5 team IMO

Pass rush and stopping the run along with a good running back, ton of weapons, good OL and Love.

Good football team all around

Will they choke at the end? Let’s hope so

I mean Dallas dropped 40 on them without CeeDee. Judkins shredded them. I think they’re kind of like Minnesota, in the right game scripts they can be great, but in others they can really be had. Even Arizona with Brissett made them look mediocre most of the game.

Offensively they are very good, I agree. Though I think Love will give you 5 chances per game to flip the game on its head.

We are #3 overall for DVOA. Number 1 defense and number 5 offense. But DVOA also factors in special teams. After a bad start, our special teams have been great - and we’re currently up ot the 5th ranked special teams. Fipp has been a great ST coach for a number of years, maybe we CAN have nice things…sometimes.

BTW - nice chart.
