On trading up

Fair my wisdom often gets me in trouble.

Monroe could slip down closer to #17 if teams see him like Dane. Of course, it only takes one team.

DJ too, a lot of the media scouts are lower on him due to his tape not being that of a high 1st rounder.

But they should know better, OTs with traits regularly go before their tape says they should (and are worth it more often than at any other position imo). I feel this will normalize as their contacts keep telling them they’re going high and they continue to raise them. That’s how it was with Tyler Smith a few years back. Mims, Guyton, Darnell Wright, Membou, etc… They were all taken before their tape said they should go, and it took the media guys most of the process to bump them up as high as they should.

Brad will use a massive amount of capital to move up into the 3rd round and select a small school project player like always.

Betting money on

CB from Stephen F Austin

Charles Demmings

9.97+ RAS. (10th highest CB RAS ever)

That SCREAMS brad holmes guy.

Hes projected as 120th over all (mid 4th round pick)

Brad will move up to like 80th and use multiple picks to get him.

(PFF has the Lions “most likely team”) at 118 tho. I think Brad will take 118 & 128 & 27 3rd and move up to like 80.

I don’t want to trade up as I mentioned earlier. But if Holmes is in love with 1 of these offensive tackles, well go get your guy. Sewell is what 25 years old still? We could potentially have awesome offensive tackles covered for the next 5 to 7 years. The oline is just so important to everything we want to do on offense. So I could support it if we are landing a stud tackle. Other positions not so much.

If Holmes was convinced Freeling is a future stud, then you can keep Tate and Sewell on the right side, which in some ways would be good for oline chemistry.

If we gotta sacrafice round 2 for a bona fide stud at DE or OT I’m game.

Yea the more I think about it, yea I’d potentially do it. But holy shit you better be right taking that risk. Otherwise you don’t pick until round 4 if the guy you traded up for isn’t really ■■■■■■■ good.

WE, we sit here talking about who we like, who we the fans want on this team and who we would draft-that keeps us busy on top of who we netted in FA. but reality is, that Dan and Brad will pick who they please weather we approve or not, I love that we are keeping busy here daily-but it always boils down to this yet we have great fun doing what we have been doing. the average poster knows ten times the information, the memory, that I have. this is why I don’t do a ton of threads.

The five guys I listed are the only ones I would do it for, and outside of Freeling I think they have the best chance of hitting. I’m not exactly out on a limb there, I think most people would call them the most likely to hit, along with Love.

I would do some sketchy shyte if Styles fell to a spot we could burn 17 and 50 for. Total luxury (cuz we gor Barnes! Woot!) and BPA pick and wont happen.

But…..dreams….

So if you were Brad Holmes, what would you do bud?

I have always loved your draft analysis and breakdowns. So you’re in charge for day 1, what’s your strategy?

I would stay put or trade down lol.

Well, if someone fell into the 14ish range where I might be able to move up with one of our 4th rounders, I might consider it. I do think those 5 guys, for us, would be really impactful.

This right here. If one of those guys (hopefully Bain) fall to 14 and we can trade up with our 17 and say 118, I do that. Then I hope like hell Miller is still there at 50 (But I doubt it)

Right I’d be shocked by that. We’d be looking at pivoting to a Tiernan type at that point, or maybe a trade up for Lomu if he falls. Both guys are more familiar at LT, but at least with Borom we’ve bought ourselves a little time to get them up to speed.

Plus the question remains, compared to what/who? Who are you passing on that makes it painful to take a chance on a potential franchise LT who isn’t quite ready made.

Exactly. This year’s class is a good example. Like give me Freeling over a guy like Tate 10/10 times. I like Tate, but there’s guys like him every year. I’m only passing on him for a unicorn of some sort.

You are starting to sound like a politician

That’s stay down or trade out.

I would be happy with this outcome also.
If we got Bain and Lomu it would be a successful draft no matter what happened in the 5th-7th rds

I don’t really know what to do with Lomu, his range of outcomes is all over the place. But certainly one of them is long-time stud, I can admit that. I’m probably a little lower on his chances of reaching that ceiling, but I can certainly admit that it exists.
