Teams are running the ball with ease against us and we can’t get pressure. How are those guys good?
The bills ran the ball well against us. The saints did not. It’s two games into the season.
Did we get pressure against both teams? I don’t think so
My point is,
He hasnt drafted above average players out side of the first round,
He hasnt added an above average player in FA.
So how is this team gonna get better after 2023?

I have no issue with ANY of those depth signings. I liked them all.
My point is those are the BEST free agents the lions added.
When you look at super bowl winning teams they trade or sign guys that are probowlers. That are at least minimum above average players.

Outside of 2 first round draft picks. And ill give you rateledge. Thats 3 players Brad has added that are above average starters.
Mean while they lost WR leaf, Davis, Reader, Zeitler, Monty, Amik, Decker and Rags
So They have replaced 3 of those guys.
Every other player is a downgrade .

I HATED the Jamo pick. I wanted Hamilton. I’m also not a big fan of first round WR’s.
Jamo in his first two seasons was the worst.. And one of the dumbest with the shit he’d do or even say. In his 3rd season he got 1,000 yards because BJ threw him a bone.
He has unreliable hands. Which is the most important thing for a WR.
In his first two games he’s done nothing. and has dropped passes including an end around. He drops the deep balls which is what he’s getting paid for.
An important factor that some of you are ignoring is that Brad didn’t just draft him 12th, but he traded up to get him which makes it that much more of a big deal. Then you look at the first season being a red-shirt year which makes it even more of a big deal. I think it’s fair to say they considered Jamo the best WR in that draft and a top 5-10 pick.
You can’t compare past drafts or future drafts with which other WR’s teams/GM’s picked in that range, but you can compare who was available in that draft. London, Wilson, and Olave were picked 1, 2, and 4 picks before him. All 3 are better, #1 WR’s, some of the best in the league, and two of them have top speed.
Then you look at other players drafted after Jamo. There is a lot of players better.
And we have to look at everything in hindsight otherwise no GM would ever lose their job. Big Mike Williams was considered the best player in his draft. Guys like Mel Kiper raved about him. Does Millen get a pass? What about Mayhew for drafting Ebron over Donald?
Jamo is a good WR who has massive big play ability because of speed. But he’s not a “great” WR. He’s not even a pro-bowl WR. At least not yet.

The bills are 1 of 1 when it comes to pressure because of Allen. Baltimore is close 2nd. So you can’t critique too harshly, critique but understand the Asterix.

Just seems like we can’t get off the field on 3rd down. Stopping teams it that situation is a sign of a great defense IMO regardless of other stats
I think this last draft has a lot of potential. And I would point out average isn’t bad. But its worse than what we got used to, which is your point.
One thing I think is also worth pointing out: the loss of Lance Newmark.
Holmes actually promoted him when he got here. He appeared to be involved in some of those later round picks. Like Kerby for sure. Look at what Washington has done since Newmark is in charge of scouting as assistant general manager. I know for one he came into the job and told them to draft Coleman. But he was also involved in getting Jayden Daniels. I just think if you look at before Newmark and after you can see our late round guys fell off a little. And you can see them drafting much better with him having a big hand. hard to attribute credit in situations like this, but I do think its worth looking at.
I do like Skyler Howard, Abney, and the potential of Rolder.
Certainly not ready to give up on Holmes whatsoever, but what he has done the last three years is far less exciting than his first couple.

Pressured on 33% of drop backs. Still went 70% completed pass and 4 long rushes against the pressure. Because they blitzed 45% of the game.
Thats the ONLY way they ever get pressure

Leaf was a better punt returner. He is not a better WR. Tesla, is progressing slower then they would like from everything I’ve heard but it has to do with getting off the line, he is struggling.
I agree that Davis is better then Reed. But reed is not a slouch at all and Davis wanted more money they they wanted to pay. Is hindsight 20/20 yes, but Reed is not by any stretch of the imagination a bad move.
Reader was/is washed. No he is not better then Williams.
Decker is better then Miller? Are we talking 2023 version of decker or 2025 version bc 2025 version was ass. This is a dumb, Miller was an excellent pick.
Mcreary? The guy with the strip sack fumble last week? Two games into his career with Detroit…Amik wanted to leave.
Anzolone’s athelticism was zapped. It’s gone. White is the better athlete in 2026.

No shit Monty is better. Monty was a 1a RUNNING BACK. Not a back up. He wanted more 1A money and more 1A snaps. They can’t have two 1A rbs and pay gibby his money. So they got a 2A running back who unfortunately got hurt….and he isn’t coming back most likely.
THE ENTIRE POINT IS: THE LIONS ARE A LOADED ROSTER IN MANY KEY AREAS AND NEEDED BETTER DEPTH AND QUALITY. THEY DID THAT AND PAYED THEIR CORNERSTONE PLAYERS. THIS LAST DRAFT WAS SOLID.
We knew our secondary was in trouble. Our pro bowl safeties are both out, our idiot corner is going to prison. Branch will be back. We will win 12-14 games. Relax.

Abney and rolder healthy scratch. Moore 0 stats. Law dead. So cool Miller is a solid RT. Out side of that. nothing.

They LOST solid players. And the guys they replaced them with are worse. Im not saying worse than those players now. Im saying 2026 roster is worse even healthy than 2023.
Thats what happens when you sign 0 starters, trade for 0 starter and draft only 3 starters in 3 years

One area we should pay attention to: Derrick Moore vs Gabe Jacas. Jacas had a pretty good debut with a sack. A lot of our draft guys were high on him too

The entire premise of this thread is just wrong. Whenever a “bad draft picks” topic comes up, it’s always Brad this and Brad that. I can promise you with 100% certainty that Brad has never drafted a single player that DC wasn’t 100% on board with drafting. Those two pour over all the data and film and put the draft board together. I would go so far as to suggest that DC probably gets the tie-breaker call when the room is divided. Any complaints about draft picks must absolutely include DC as an accomplice, yet almost never does. As if Brad operates in a vacuum like a dictator. Brad is drafting the players DC wants on his team. Duh.

This is not quite how it works. Brad and the scouts do all the work in the offseason. Then they later bring that work and brief the coaches. So the coaches are going off of the beliefs and evaluations of the scouting department / gm. So yeah, when Brad and his guys tell Dan that they like somebody and the staff should watch some tape, they do.. but its all going off of the GM’s evals. Then they get to the combine and such and get to interact with them, and their input is asked for.. but that is way different than the coaches really being involved in the decisions. Most of it is made for them already. They just kind of add in their 2 cents and pick a flavor out of pre-approved flavors. Its up to the personell department to determine who are good players and who are good fits for the staff and scheme. Then out of those guys, the coaches kind of narrow it down a bit

Oh its all parties in terms of roster building. But Brad provides the options.
Hes the one that cuts the draft list from 1000+ players to ~50-60 options cuts down the FA list from 500 to 20.
They then come to an agreement.
The roster building as a whole has been horrible
