I’m not saying sweeping Quintricia out is wrong at this point. I’m officially on the fence.
What I am saying it would not make me happy if we move to Marvin Lewis who most of Cincinnati wanted gone 8 years before he was actually fired for continued mediocrity.
Ok. Well… there is a guy named Mike McCarthy available. He has a record of 135-85-2 and has won a super bowl. Surely you think he’s an upgrade, right? Unless results don’t matter to you… which I am sensing is the case here.
I’ll go on record…
I can’t stand Bob Quinn. He’s a level of irritating that lands somewhere between Tom Lewand and Bill Bonds. I also think he has hamstrung both of his HCs with some less-than-stellar rosters.
Patricia absolutely deserves a 3rd year. He deserves a roster with some starters. It’s good to have versatility, but not if they’re Jack’s of the trades and Masters of none.
Few posters are as negative toward Quinn as I am, but it really would be a shame if he and Patricia weren’t allowed to take some corrective measures with this roster. One more year to show marked improvement, hopefully due to strengthening the trenches.
Because I don’t want Marvin Lewis, you suspect I’m fine with terrible results? That’s fair… I just understand that oh ALL new staffs will want to implement THEIR vision and it takes more than season one to win SB’s with someone else’s team. I see bad things that have become a theme with Patricia. So I’m not opposed to blowing it all up. I just want to have a plan other than these guys suck.
McCarthy wouldn’t be a bad choice at all especially with Bevell’s WCO roots. Maybe we could keep him in place. Add in the benefit of having an edge beating Aaron Rogers, I wouldn’t be opposed to that. Coming with hey… let’s go with Marvin Lewis… well sorry. Doesn’t make me ok with losing.
Does it even matter anymore?
Bring the whole crew back to yet another season of complete suckiness.
Hated the hiring when it happened, hate it now, hate watching the jackass walk around on the sideline with the pencil sticking out of his hat.
9-7 is unacceptable, but 9-18-1 gets you a third season.
And this coming from a franchise that has won 10 or more games in a season 10 times in 90 seasons. Yes, 1 out of 9 years on average, and Caldwell won 11, 9, and 9 in his 4 year tenure here. I’m surprised they didn’t build a statue to the guy in front of Ford Field.
And then a few posts later you advocate for McCarthy…how did they do the last few seasons for Green Bay. And under a first year head coach they are back in first. Following your logic McCarthy doesn’t deserve another job based on his latest work. You change your narratives faster then the weather around here. I just don’t understand you.
I agree. Stay the course. Even with all the injuries our games have all been close. One of only 3 teams to have led in every game, and the other 2 (KC and SF) are going to playoffs.
Tough season, but it looks like we even may have found a quality backup QB with starter potential down the road. Also, Scarbrough looks like a great find. Now we get an extended look at the rookie QB and some of the other young players.
Marvin Lewis? He’s another Caldwell, perfectly mediocre and can never win a big game with some very talented teams… What would be the point of that hire?
Why should this news surprise anybody? They weren’t going to fire Patricia after just 2 seasons. I’m no Patricia fan but turning over the coaching staff every couple of years is not the answer.
Get Stafford fully healthy for next season, use that wealth of cap space and the high draft pick to build up the defense and offensive line and lets see where that takes them next season. I’m not pretending that this year hasn’t sucked but every game has come down to the wire, literally, so they aren’t THAT far off from being good IMO.
Its really interesting to me that not a single Patriots assistant coach came to Detroit with Patricia from New England yet a year later Brian Flores was able to basically clean out the assistants and get them to go with him to Miami.
